Chapter 17 First QuarterThe horde kept up its furious pace throughout the whole of the next day, barely pausing for hobbling ponies or loosening wheels. There was a festival atmosphere amongst the Celtoi people, buoyed up by the prospect of pickings from the Catuvellauni who had grown rich from collaborating with the Romani. Pickings which were hoped to be sufficient to compensate for those missed at Londinium. Boudicca and Lovernios hurried to keep up, following the deep ruts at the sides of the roads where, for want of room on the road itself, vast numbers of carts and chariots had passed.
