Odell Granton wastes no time communicating our pact to Mandon Allic. He fires up the hologram and puts the offer to him.
‘When Earth is gone, you may enter under official refugee status. Adequate supplies will be sent to the larger ships for distributing to sustain four months of waiting. If, by chance, the asteroid does not destroy Earth, they will have to turn around and go home.’
Mandon is incensed. He claims there is no possibility of the asteroid missing. Computers have been modelling the asteroid’s path thousands of times, accounting for a range of variables based on the precise data available, and not once does the asteroid pass Earth by. He demands the shield be shut down instantly. He threatens war.
Odell doesn’t shift and negotiations end badly.
