White Wolf

1084 Words
Elise couldn't take it any more and burst out the cupboard shifting mid leap into a magnificent tawny wolf the size of a lion with a blaze of white down between her eyes and over her muzzle, complimenting Aura's grey green eyes. She beat her brothers, tearing through the house at supernatural speeds, feeling Ryan's pain in every fibre of her being. She saw his limp grey wolf just by the gate, but weirdly a white wolf she didn't recognise brawling with two Blackfoot wolves, clearly protecting Ryan from them. The white wolf locked eyes with Elise, intense sapphires eying Elise's intimidating figure and then surprised Elise by turning tail and leaping the fence. The Blackfoots hadn't seen Elise and were about to go for Ryan when Elise let out an ear shattering growl that made all the birds nearby shrek and scatter. They turned towards her just in time for her brothers to arrive in force. 'Back to the house' Alex's mind linked. 'No' Elise clearly stood her ground. There was no way she was leaving with Ryan lying there. With no time to argue Alex took his rage out on the Blackfoots, pouncing on the nearest and savagely tearing a chunk of flesh from his shoulder. John joined him pinning it by its throat. The Blackfoot remaining tried to take John down by leaping at him, but John didn't even flinch and Max intercepted mid jump, shoulder barging him to the floor. Aura saw her family at risk and Elise lost any control she had over her. Aura tore into the pinned wolf Alex was attacking, ripping its back leg clean off in one swoop of her powerful jaws. The Blackfoot on the floor whimpered in solidarity and tried to escape, Max snapping at his heels. Alex finally got a clean bite of the injured Blackfoot's throat and ripped it out, ironically putting him out of his misery by letting him bleed out. As he passed he transformed and Elise was shocked to realise he was a boy, looking barely older than 16. The surviving Blackfoot was dodging and jumping quicker than Elise had seen any wolf move, nimble and agile, but unable to get a clear route to clear the perimeter and intelligent enough to know that one wrong move would be it's last. It got harder as John and Alex joined the chase. Aura wanted to join in, but Elise's concern for her brother allowed her to take over and Elise nuzzled into Ryan, trying to find a rhythm. His heart rate was irregular, but still there and he was breathing, but shallow jagged breaths. She tried to find a wound, but there was nothing deep enough to account for his condition. She licked half heartedly the wounds she could find, anxious and unable to see anything she could fix. 'Do you mind slobbering all over me' Ryan slurred his words, blood splattering out his mouth with the words, but Elise was delighted he was conscious. 'Ryan' She squealed. 'What's wrong? What hurts? Where are you injured?' 'Not.. sure' Ryan managed to spit his words out in between deep shakey breaths. 'Chest hurts' Elise looked up, hoping her brothers would be nearby, but they were long gone after the Blackfoot and she couldn't get to them. 'I don't know what to do,' Elise wailed, thrusting her muzzle into Ryan's fur, nudging his face subconsciously in her distress. 'Purr' Sarah seemed to drop out of no where, wearing only a loose slip dress. 'What?!!' Elise didn't understand 'You mean like a cat?! How the hell do I purr?' 'Just try, think of how much you love Ryan, let your wolf take over she will know what to do,' Sarah stroked Ryan's face affectionately, 'You don't get off that easy, baby' She murmered and his eyes fixed on Sarah with a look of real devotion. Elise was baffled, but prepared to try anything, no matter how crazy. She turned over to Aura who leant her head on Ryan. A rumble stirred in her chest, building and building until it rippled out her mouth, vibrating loudly through the air. Ryan gasped at the intensity, and Sarah gave him a quick kiss on the top of his muzzle and said 'Got to go babe, your brothers are coming back. Not a word of this either of you, tell no one'. She jumped up and easily scaled the fence. Ryan took another jagged breath, but Elise could hear to her surprise his heart beart sounded stronger, less erratic. 'Elise, what in the world?' His words came out clearly, no slurring, no juddering. 'I didn't think I was.' he trailed off 'I could barely catch a breath, but now my head feels clearer, I can breath and god it hurts, but I can feel it, I think..' He shook his head in disbelief, and shrugged Elise's head off him. He stretched a paw experimentally and winced, but was able to drag himself upright. 'What-' 'Shhhh' Elise muttered, sensing her brothers before she saw them. Her mind was racing, what was that? How did Aura know to do that. More importantly how did Sarah know she could do that, was she the white wolf? What was she doing there and why were they attacked. Once again she had too many questions and too few answers. Not in any of the books had she heard about wolves purring, I mean do wolves even purr? She had spent most of the morning reading and there wasn't even a hint of a mention on some supernatural purring stuff? Wouldn't that be worth mentioning. Oh and why were there Blackfoots at the house? Her head was just swimming, but she turned to face her brothers with a neutral expression. 'Did you get it?' 'Alex took it down,' Max bragged proud of his older brother 'Damn Ryan you got got. I was worried brother, you looked in bad, bad shape dude.' 'Yeah,' for once John agreed with his younger brother with a huge amount of relief, he had worried seeing Ryan lying there breathing so badly as well. Ryan shot Elise a piercing glance, then joked 'can't get rid of me that easy.' He wobbled a bit, but started to limp back towards the house. 'however I think I need to rest'. John and Max instinctively flanked him so he could lean on them. Alex gave Elise a look. 'Why do I feel like you aren't telling me something?' he asked softly.
