If she ever had any doubts, the way Cain’s face paled and his mouth hardened was enough to rectify that. She chuckled and shook her head. She blamed herself for ever trusting him in the first place. The hurt and pain of betrayal flared in her.
“I guess that answers that,” she murmured. Her tone sounded almost defeated even to her own ears.
Cain snapped out of his shock and took another step forward. “No, it doesn’t explain anything. You need to listen to me…”
She stopped his words with a raise of her hand. “I think I have heard enough from you.”
