Chapter Twelve Fuse stood at the front of the history classroom as the rest of us took our seats. He looked very dashing in his new uniform. His kepi cap was tucked under his arm, and he held a new history textbook as he waited for the instructor. Some of the boys whispered and laughed, but Fuse ignored them. Mr. Helmut von Hoffbrau entered the room and quieted the boys with one look. He then glanced at Fuse. “You must be the new cadet.” “Yes, sir.” Mr. von Hoffbrau went to his desk, sat, and opened a ledger. “Name?” “Vincent Fusilier.” He wrote the name in his ledger. “You are two weeks behind.” Mr. von Hoffbrau removed his wire-rimmed glasses and gazed at Fuse. “I’ll not hold the rest of the class back for your benefit.” “I understand, sir.” “The six-weeks exam is coming up in j
