Chapter 8

795 Words
The boys found the rocket ship, located on the planet’s launch pad, without any problems. They managed to evade any guards or citizens keeping an eye out for trouble and avoided running into any of them. They climbed into the rocket and Fabian took out his notebook again, scribbled in it and letting the rocket ship operate on its own. They blasted off and headed straight to Earth’s direction. “Where do you think we’ll land on Earth, Fabian?” “Somewhere in Scotland, I hope.” “How does home look like in your story?” Fabian squirmed. “Uhm, I never really touched much on home in this story. Earth is just where they abduct humans to fulfill certain needs. They’re not really evil, harmful creatures. But no one likes being abducted, to tell you the truth.” “Tell me about it.” “Yeah, so, once we reach Earth, it doesn’t matter where we land. We’ll use my notebook to get out of this story and go back home, okay?” “Okay. IF we reach Earth safely.” The intra-solar-system ride went smoothly. Fabian had read many books on space travel, so he knows realistically the chances of surviving the trip from Mars to Earth are fairly high, if all safety precautions are taken into consideration. He was about to check the oxygen levels inside the ship in the control panel room when the ship jerked to one side and knocked him off balance. “W-What was that?” Charlie cried out from the other rocket chamber. Fabian looked out the window. Oh no. The worst villain of all his three stories was holding on to the rocket, obstructing it from getting closer to Earth. “CHARLIE! Go to the rocket’s emergency carrier! We have to get out of the rocket NOW!” Charlie didn’t know what was going on, but he did as he was told. He found the door, unlocked it with one push of a button, and entered it. Fabian rushed in from behind. “Buckle up.” The boys fastened themselves securely to the seats. In a few minutes, the emergency carrier detached itself from the main rocket body and continued its journey to Earth. “Phew. I think we’re safe now. We lost him, whatever…… whatever that thing is, Fabian.” Fabian looked at the rear view screen in the emergency carrier. The climax of his story was far from over. Sure enough, the villain began chasing after them, and it was gaining on them by the minute. The boys screamed. The villain caught up to them and grabbed the rear of the carrier. It climbed to the front window and flashed some fangs at the boys. “Wh-wh-wh-what IS that thing?!” Charlie shrieked. “It’s a pure alien with 100% alien DNA! It FEEDS on human DNA! We can’t let it follow us back to Earth!” The boys screamed again as the alien repeatedly hit the emergency carrier with its octopus-like tentacles, trying to get at its prey. It looked at them and growled, and suddenly, where its eyes were, appeared Marcus’s face. “Not THAT guy again!” Charlie wailed. “Don't worry, buddy. There is NO good side to this villain so unlike the merfolk king, you won’t see your face with Marcus’s in this one.” “And that’s supposed to be reassuring?” Fabian shrugged. “I don’t know. I tried, I guess.” “Do you HAVE to keep using the same guy as inspiration for a character in every story?” “Marcus is the worst sperm to ever be fertilized in the history of humankind. If I can’t ever insult him in my stories, I dunno what I can do!” The alien tugged, pulled and torn apart lose pieces of the carrier. All attempts to escape the vessel seem futile, and the boys know there is only one way left out of this…… “Fabian? You still got your notebook?” Fabian felt around the sides of his seat for his backpack. Then he gasped. “Oh no!” I think I left all my stuff in the control panel room back there. I forgot to take it with me into the carrier. We’re done for!” Charlie and Fabian looked desperately at the rear view screen. Fabian’s belongings, including his notebook, their only ticket home, were just a tiny speck of space dust floating somewhere in the vast, endless galaxy now.
