A few days later, Sarah found Diana sitting alone during lunch, her sketchbook open on her lap. She looked around before sitting beside her.
“I've been thinking about your designs,” Sarah whispered. Diana quickly closed the book. “What about them?” “What if we actually make one? Diana stared at her. “Make one? Like… for real?” Sarah nodded excitedly. “Yes. We don't have to make something perfect. We can start small and see what happens.” Diana looked at her sketchbook again. The idea sounded exciting, but it also made her nervous. “What if someone finds out?” she asked. “Then we'll figure it out together,” Sarah replied. That answer made Diana smile. After school, the two girls stayed behind and found a quiet place where they could work without attracting attention. They gathered some old fabric pieces, thread, and a few other things they could find. Diana carefully explained how she wanted the design to look while Sarah helped her put everything together. They laughed when they made mistakes and started again whenever something went wrong.
For the first time, Diana wasn't just imagining her dream. She was actually doing something about it.
After what felt like hours, the piece finally began to look like the design in her notebook. Diana stared at it, amazed. “Sarah… we actually did it.” Sarah smiled. “I told you that you could.” Before Diana could say anything else, they heard footsteps approaching. Someone stopped outside the door. Then came a knock. Both girls froze. “Sarah?” a familiar voice called. Diana's smile disappeared.
