Three days.
It had been exactly three days since Mona left the house, and there was still no trace of her. I had told Mona's mother about her disappearance—said it happened after a little fight—and she assured me she had spoken some sense into Mona and that she would be back as soon as possible.
But from the look of things, it didn't seem like Mona was coming back. Not anytime soon.
I paced back and forth in my office, my fingers anxiously rubbing and digging into my temples as I thought about what to do next. Clearly, having Mona's mother talk to her had done nothing, and Mona had been ignoring all my texts. I needed to think of something and had to think of something fast.
