CHAPTER 3:
“THE MEMORY THAT WOKE HIM”
POV: Aria Vale (Female Lead)
OPENING HOOK
“He knows my name now.”
I whispered it before I even understood what it meant.
And the man in front of me was shaking like he had just been pulled out of a grave.
CHAPTER CONTENT
Kael did not let go of me.
His hand was still on my arm.
Tight.
Not hurting.
But refusing to release.
His breathing was uneven.
Like something inside him was breaking apart and rebuilding at the same time.
“Say it again,” he said.
His voice was low.
Rough.
Not commanding like before.
Not Alpha-like.
Human.
I swallowed.
“Say what?”
“My name.”
I froze.
Because I did not expect that.
But Elias answered instead.
“Kael.”
Kael closed his eyes.
Like the name hit him directly in the chest.
“You said it like you knew me,” Kael whispered.
Elias nodded.
“I do know you.”
Kael looked at him sharply.
“How?”
Elias tilted his head.
“Because you are my father.”
Kael stepped back instantly.
“No.”
Fast.
Too fast.
Like the word burned him.
I stepped forward.
“Kael… listen to him.”
His eyes snapped to me.
That name again.
This time it stayed.
It did not disappear.
Something changed in his face.
Confusion.
Pain.
Recognition trying to break through.
“I don’t remember you,” he said to me.
But his voice was softer now.
Less defensive.
Almost afraid.
“You used to,” I said quietly.
Silence.
A long one.
Then he asked something that made my heart tighten.
“If I did… why can’t I feel it?”
I didn’t know how to answer that.
Because I had asked myself the same question for six years.
Elias suddenly stepped closer to Kael.
“Because someone broke your memory.”
Kael looked down at him.
Slow.
Careful.
“Who?”
Elias answered without hesitation.
“The people who took you away from us.”
My stomach dropped.
That was not a child’s answer.
That was something else.
Something deeper.
Something knowing.
Kael turned slightly toward me.
“Is that true?”
My lips parted.
But I hesitated.
Because I remembered flashes.
Blood.
Running.
A hand pulling me away from him.
Then nothing.
I whispered, “I don’t know everything.”
That was the truth.
And it hurt to say.
Kael stepped back again.
His hand went to his head.
Pain crossed his face.
Another flash hit him.
I saw it in his eyes.
Not just pain.
Memory trying to surface.
He whispered, “There was a woman…”
His voice stopped.
Like it hurt too much to continue.
Elias said softly, “Me and her.”
Kael looked at him sharply.
“What?”
Elias repeated slowly.
“You left us.”
My breath stopped.
Kael shook his head immediately.
“No. I wouldn’t—”
But he stopped himself.
Because even he did not sound sure.
Then it happened.
A new voice.
Cold.
Calm.
“Of course you would.”
We all turned.
Lucien.
Again.
Standing like he had always been there.
Watching.
Waiting.
Kael’s entire body changed instantly.
His Alpha energy returned.
Sharp.
Controlled.
Dangerous.
“You again,” Kael said.
Lucien smiled slightly.
“I never left.”
I stepped back slightly.
Something about Lucien made the air feel wrong.
Like he was not just a man.
Like he was part of something bigger.
He looked at Elias.
Again.
Slow.
Careful.
“This child is more important than you think,” Lucien said.
Elias frowned.
“I don’t like you.”
Lucien laughed softly.
“That makes two of us.”
Kael moved in front of Elias immediately.
Protective.
Instinctive.
“Leave,” Kael said.
Lucien tilted his head.
“You still don’t remember everything.”
Kael’s jaw tightened.
“I don’t need to.”
Lucien smiled wider.
“That is where you are wrong.”
Then Lucien said something that changed everything.
“You didn’t just lose your memory, Kael.”
A pause.
“You were erased because you found something you were never meant to see.”
Silence.
Heavy.
Kael didn’t speak.
I didn’t either.
Even Elias stayed still.
Kael’s voice dropped.
“What did I see?”
Lucien looked at Elias.
Not Kael.
Elias.
And said:
“The child.”
My heart stopped.
Kael frowned.
“What about him?”
Lucien’s smile faded.
“He is not just your son.”
Silence again.
Then Lucien added:
“He is the key to the first Alpha bloodline.”
My knees almost weakened.
First Alpha.
That was not a normal statement.
That was something forbidden.
Kael turned sharply.
“That is impossible.”
Lucien shrugged.
“Is it?”
Then he looked at me.
And my blood went cold.
“You didn’t tell him everything, did you?”
Kael turned to me instantly.
“What is he talking about?”
I stepped back.
My voice shook.
“I don’t understand all of it.”
But I did.
I just didn’t want to believe it.
Elias suddenly spoke.
“I was not born normal.”
Kael looked at him.
“What do you mean?”
Elias looked at his hands.
“They did something to me before I was born.”
Silence.
Kael’s breathing changed.
“Who?”
Elias looked up.
“The people who took you.”
Kael stepped closer.
“Elias… what are you?”
Elias answered simply.
“I am what they failed to control.”
That sentence hit harder than anything else.
Even Lucien stopped smiling.
Just for a second.
Then the ground outside shifted.
A sound.
Heavy.
Multiple steps.
Kael reacted instantly.
His Alpha presence expanded.
“What is that?” I whispered.
Lucien answered calmly.
“The hunters.”
Kael’s eyes darkened.
“You brought them here.”
Lucien smiled slightly.
“No.”
He looked at Elias.
“They came because he woke up.”
Elias tilted his head.
“I didn’t call them.”
Lucien nodded.
“That is the problem.”
Kael grabbed my hand.
“Stay behind me.”
But Elias stepped forward.
“No.”
Kael turned sharply.
“What are you doing?”
Elias looked at him calmly.
“I need to see them.”
Kael shook his head.
“No. You stay here.”
But Elias did not listen.
Instead, he walked toward the sound.
Slow.
Certain.
Like he already knew what would happen.
Kael moved to stop him.
But Lucien spoke again.
“If you stop him… you will lose him.”
Kael froze.
Lucien continued.
“He needs to see what he is.”
Silence.
Heavy.
Kael looked at me.
Waiting.
I didn’t know what to say.
Elias stopped at the edge.
And said quietly:
“They are not here for me.”
Kael frowned.
“What?”
Elias turned slightly.
“They are here because I remember now.”
A pause.
Then he added something that shattered everything:
“I was never supposed to forget who I am.”
Kael whispered, “Who are you?”
Elias looke
d at all of us.
And said:
“I am the beginning.”
CLIFFHANGER
A loud crash echoed closer.
Kael pulled me back instantly.
Lucien stepped into the shadows.
And Elias stood alone.
Smiling faintly.
As if he was finally awake.
And he whispered:
“Let them come.”
