Chapter 8 The Revelation

547 Words
The moonlight cast eerie shadows on Ava's face as she turned to me, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of fear and desperation. The wind rustled through the leaves, creating an unsettling whisper that seemed to carry her words away. "I'm glad you came, Eli," she whispered, her breath barely audible over the wind. "I have something important to tell you. Something that will change everything." I felt a surge of concern for Ava as I looked at her. She seemed...off. Her eyes were sunken, her skin pale, and her words were tumbling out in a rush. I took a step closer to her, my hands reaching out to grasp her shoulder. "Ava, what's going on?" I asked, my voice low and gentle. "You're scaring me." Ava's gaze darted around the clearing, her eyes scanning the shadows as if she was searching for something. The air was thick with tension, and I could feel her fear radiating towards me like a palpable force. "I don't have much time," she whispered, her voice urgent. "I have to tell you this. You have to know." I took another step closer to her, my heart pounding in my chest. Ava's eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, I saw a flash of fear in their depths. "Ava, please," I said, trying to calm her down. "You're scaring me. Just take a deep breath and try to relax." Ava's gaze dropped to the ground, and she took a deep breath before speaking. "I'm not sick, Eli," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I'm...different. I'm one of them." My mind reeled as I tried to process her words. One of who? What did she mean? Ava's eyes locked onto mine again, and I saw a flash of desperation in their depths. "Vampires, werewolves, witches, demons," she whispered, her voice rushing. "They're real, Eli. And I'm one of them." I stared at her, my mind racing with questions. Ava's words were insane, but the look in her eyes was dead serious. I felt a pang of sympathy for her, wondering if she was okay. Was she delusional? Or was she telling the truth? As I looked at Ava, I saw the fear and desperation in her eyes, and my heart went out to her. I took a step closer to her, my hands reaching out to grasp her shoulders. "Ava, I'm here for you," I said, trying to reassure her. "Whatever is going on, I'll support you." Ava's gaze locked onto mine, and for a moment, I saw a flash of hope in her eyes. Then, her face contorted in a mixture of fear and pain. "Eli, I don't have much time," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I have to show you. I have to make you believe me." As she spoke, Ava's body began to tremble, and her eyes rolled back in her head. I felt a surge of fear as I realized that something was very wrong. "Ava, no!" I shouted, grabbing her shoulders to hold her upright. But it was too late. Ava's body went limp, and she collapsed into my arms. I held her close, feeling her heart racing against my chest. What was happening to her? And what did she mean by "I'm one of them?"
