"Okay y'all so how do I look"? I said showing myself off in the group video chat. Lavern replies “like a bad b***h who getting her ass ate tonight”.

Charlene and I laugh and she says “yea what Lavern said”.

They were right I looked beautiful. When I landed in New York Rodney had a makeup team and a hairstylist waiting for me. He even had a masseuse as well.

“Girl that man dropped some coins on you today b***h you better ride that d**k to the moon and beyond”.

“Lavern I am not having s*x with him okay”? Charlene replies “well s**t you better let him lick girl stop being scared”.

There was a knock at my hotel room door “look that’s him I gotta go”.

Lavern replies “make sure you use a condom”.

I slam my laptop shut and go to the door taking a breath before opening it .

“Oh s**t” he replied before covering his mouth and then saying removing his hand “my bad you look damn good girl”.

I smiled and said “thank you, you don’t look bad yourself” I said to him . He was wearing a blue silk button up shirt that was exposing his light hairy but muscular chest with some gold chains around his neck. Black dress pants that stopped at the ankles and some black and gold gucci loafers . He just looked damn good and for a minute I didn’t notice I was staring until he said “are you okay”?

“Yea I am” I said laughing it off.

“Good let’s go” he said.

We pulled up to the event and there was so many people waiting outside the car . Light flashed as we sat in the car . “Are you okay”? He asked seeing me look nervous before even getting out the car.

“Um . Yea” I said .

He smiled “it’s just cameras, you look beautiful so don’t worry about it okay”.

I took a breath as he opened the door and got out. I did not need my anxiety getting the best of me right now. The door opens and he held out his hand and I grabbed it and got out.

“Remember it’s just cameras” he said in my ear as we walked up the red carpet. People were calling his name and I just felt all eyes on us.

As we got to the top of the steps he replies “before we go in we have to take a picture at the top in front of the house”.

“Okay” I said in a nervous voice.

We took the picture and then walked into the beautiful, huge white brick home. Soon as we walked in we were greeted by a fat black guy.

“Well Rodney who’s this beautiful soul with you”.

Rodney smirks and says to the guy “a friend . Diamond this is Mr. Cover Governor of this beautiful state”.

I held out my hand for him to shake and he accepts saying “nice to meet you , you definitely live up to your name. It’s about time Rodney bring someone of his ethnicity to these events . Tired of explaining in so much detail the reason why we raise this money for the black youth of this country to his previous guest”.

I smiled and replied “and I greatly appreciate this I see it’s for a very great cause”.

Rodney intervenes and responds “if you excuse us governor I would like to make my rounds before your speech”.

Just by the look on his face I could tell he was bothered by the what the governor had said.

As we walked off I asked “did what he say bother you”?

Rodney sighs and replied “Diamond I’m fine”.

Not wanting to ruin the night because I saw he already had a attitude I said to him “make your rounds I’m going to the bar”.

I heard him call out to me but I kept walking making it to the bar I asked for a glass of wine.

“Never knew Rodney was into black girls” I turned and said excuse me to the lady that had just walked up to the bar.

She grinned and said “I’m sorry if I offended, but your just the first black girl I saw Rodney with you must be special . Diamond right ? I’m Tabitha”.

I greeted her back “nice to meet you and we aren’t dating I did a piece on him and we became something like friends”.

“A writer are you”? She asked .

“Yes for Sizzy Up magazine” I said.

“Oh okay I think someone interview me before from there I’m a indies singer”.

Looking at her she did look familiar I think Charlene interview her.

“Oh okay how do you know Rodney”?

She chuckled and said “me and him go a little ways back I tried to change his views on us black women, but I couldn’t do it so I gave up hope, but seeing you out with him tonight and not in the shadows like he kept me there might just be hope”. She then laughs and grabs her drink before walking away.

So basically she just implied that her and Rodney dated or something but he kept her a secret I’m guessing. He never mentioned he ever dated a black girl before in my eyes I thought he never did. There was more to that story I needed to find out maybe there was some tea somewhere in a gossip blog or something about the two because I know asking Rodney he’d probably beat around the bush.

He finally comes over to the bar and says “the governor is about to say his speech come”.

I walked ahead of him and stopped when there was no more room for me to walk.

He standing behind me leans down in my ear and said “I’m sorry for how I answered you earlier okay I’m sorry”. Turning to my left I see Tabitha looking right at us sipping her drink and I replied “it’s fine”.
