Chapter 2: Gerard
Ever since Dad became sick and couldn’t fish anymore, I’d been trying to find jobs that gave me enough reason to keep the boat. The fishing industry around my home province of Newfoundland was dying. I got lucky, and hooked up with Jed through a mutual friend. He needed a dive boat, and I was willing to lease mine to him. On top of the lease, I got paid for the time I worked with the dive crews, as well as extra coin when I had to tend the lines, because there was only the one diver on the job. When Dad passed away, he left Lady Bertha to me, and I needed to find enough work to pay for running her. Discovery Divers was a steady contract with a long term prospect.
