Chapter 9

Olive's POV "Have you taken your medication?" I asked the innocent five-year-old standing in front of me with her school bag on. "Yep." She replied popping the 'p', "Is Mami coming with us?" Connie asked scanning the area for Mia. "Nope, she has to bring Janelle and Melena to school baby girl." I explained carefully, hoping she wouldn't make a fuss about it. "Oh, okay, will she be coming with us tomorrow then?" She asked yet again and I smiled, "She'll bring you tomorrow and I'll bring your sisters to their school okay?" "Alright." She grinned and I let out a sigh of relief. The doctor has taught us how we should communicate with Connie, instead of insisting something or an idea on her, we should try and understand from her perspective and it is a hell lot of complication. Sometimes we still end up with a frustrated and angsty Connie but that's okay. "Let's go say goodbye to Mami." I said and held her little hand in mine as we walked into the kitchen, "Have a nice morning M’z, I'll see you later." "You too Oli," She answered kissing my lips, "I love you." "I love you too princess." Mia's POV "Do you guys need extra lunch money?" I asked as I drive into the school carpark. "I'm okay with what I have." Melena replied, putting on her back. "I need ten bucks." Janelle added afterwards, "I'm having dinner out tonight as well." "Where are you going tonight?" I questioned handing her money. "A house of my friend's." She simply said. "Remember to be back by 10!" I reminded as she stepped out of the car and joined her friends. "I love you Mami." Melena said and gave me a kiss on the cheek as she opened the door. "I love you too mi hija." I smiled and I watched as she entered the school's front door alone. Melena has always been the quiet one between the twins, she doesn’t have many friends and she doesn't stay out late unless it's a sleepover with her best friends. Janelle on the other hand is a popular head cheerleader in school and have many friends, or underdogs as she called it. She often goes out late at night with her friends and I'm not very happy about it. Olive says that she's a growing girl and we should just let her be unless things gets too far. I looked at Janelle as she gets surrounded by her friends, she seems happy with her school life and I'm glad she is. I'm not so sure about Melena though. Melena's POV "Hey." Someone said and I looked up to see Kaitlynn, one of the popular students standing in front of me. "I think you got the wrong person." I answered and she grabbed my wrist before I could walk away. "No, I didn't," She muttered, confident of herself, "You're Melena Hudson-Macpherson." "Why are you looking for me?" "I wanna be friends with you." She replied. "Yeah right, popular student Kaitlynn wants to be my friend." I rolled my eyes, "You wanna be my friend because my parents are famous." "No, I'm serious." She frowned, "Just give me a chance. I promise I won't waste it." "Alright then." I said stopping in my tracks, "Show me that you're sincere in being my friend." Melena's POV "Hey!" "Ah!" I screamed in surprise, falling off the bench I was sitting on. "Oh my god, are you okay?" Kaitlynn asked, helping me up. "Could've been better," I replied rubbing my butt, "but yes I'm fine." "Sorry for scaring you," She apologized, "I didn't mean to scare you." "It's okay." I answered, "Why are you looking for me?" I asked, suspicious of her actions. "I wanna ask if you want to go on a date with me to the movies tonight, I have two tickets for The Fault in Our Stars." She smiled, holding out two tickets in her hands, "You've been dying to watch it right?" "How do you know?" "Let's just say I did a little stalking on your twitter." She responded, "That aside, is it a yes or a no?" "Yes." I said, "And that's just because I really want to watch it really bad." I added before she could say anything. "Great!" She squealed, "I'll pick you up later at 4." "Okay." I smiled. "Give me your phone." She said and I handed my phone to her, "I have your number and you have mine, see you later!" I looked at my contacts and see her number under the name "Kait" with her selfie in it. She looks really cute in her beanie and I have to admit that she indeed is gorgeous. "I'm heading out with Kaitlynn to the movies tonight." I informed Mami and Mama with a huge smile on my face. "Isn't she one of the popular girls in school?" Janelle asked, "Why are you friends with her?" "Jan, being popular doesn't mean all her friends have to be popular." Mami scolded, "And that's great Mel, I'm glad you're hanging out with someone new." I smiled and Mama looked at me with a grin, "I'll help you with your dress later." "She's just a friend Mama," I answered, "and she's a girl." "But that doesn't mean it’s not a date." Mama replied. Olive's POV "Did you see that smile on Mel's face when she talked about that Kaitlynn girl?" I asked as Mia and I washed the dishes. "Yeah, I think she likes her." Mia said drying the plates. I nodded in agreement, "Go help her with the dress, you said you would." Melena's POV "Mel? Can I come in?" Mami asked. "Yeah." I replied and she opened the door. "You look gorgeous baby girl," She mumbled, "it'll be better if you had worn a dress though." "I'm wearing a skirt Mami, it's the same." "Whatever you say mel." She said putting a bow in my hair, "Just a little Mia Hudson-Macpherson tradition." "Mama doesn't wear a bow." I frowned. "Well I do." She muttered taking a step back and the sound of a car honking came from the street. "Have fun Mel. I love you." "Thanks, Mami, I love you too." I smiled and walked out the front door to see Kaitlynn leaning against her car. She's wearing white ripped skinny jeans ((the one like Olive's)) and a shirt with a varsity jacket on. She also has a grey beanie on her head and also purple sneakers. "You look beautiful." She complimented. "Thank you, you don't look bad yourself." I laughed getting into the car after she opened the door for me. Kaitlynn's POV "I should've brought more tissues." Melena sniffed as we walked out of the cinema and headed towards the beach nearby. "That movie was so good; I don't even know how to describe it." I replied and took off my shoes as i walked into the cold waves. "Heart warm." She answered simply and I looked at her quriking my eyebrow, "Heart warm?" "Yeah, I describe things that makes my heart melt or feel the way like I felt during the movie just now as heart warm." "That's cute." I smiled and Melena walked into the water behind me, "Can I tell you a secret?" "Sure." She responded taking in a deep breath of fresh air. "I like girls the way I'm supposed to feel about boys." I admitted biting my lip as I waited for her response. "Well, I'm glad you trust me with your secret." She grinned. "You don't hate me now do you?" "Nope. I mean, I have a pair of lesbian parents that are being shipped across the whole world and I like lay parts too." She winked. "Can I tell you something else?" I asked walking towards her. "What is it?" "I've liked you since I first laid my eyes on you." Melena's POV I can't process what Kaitlynn just told me, she just said that she has liked me since the first time she saw me. I stood in front of her in shock, not knowing what to say. "I..I.." I stuttered. "It's alright, I know you don't feel the sa -" I cut her off and crashed my lips into hers, putting in as much love as possible. We pulled apart when oxygen is needed and I laid my forehead against hers, "I like you too."
