One More Minute With Him

“Brandon, I know Cody he is a good kid he say but he doesn’t mean. I know that you don’t think that but he does. He isn’t going to be harm to me anymore. He is on our side.” I hugged him.

“Ari I just don’t want anything to happen to you. Cody isn’t to be trusted yet.”

“But we know why Michelle is blacking mailing him. But what I don’t get is how Michelle found out about it and how she wanted and used him.”

“You know as well as I do that Michelle gets what she wants. How she found out about Cody I have no clue to.”

“I kno-“

“Arianna are you home?” I looked to Brandon. My mother would kill me she found Brandon in my room.

“You have to go Brandon, my mother would kill you and me if she see you in here.”

“Okay but I will talk to you tomorrow okay?”

“Okay sound good. Good night Brandon.” I kissed him and pushed him out of the window.

I smiled as he jumped down.

“There you are sweetie, I’ve been calling you.” My mom said as she walked into my room. 

“Sorry mom I’m been looking for my phone, I can’t seem to find it.” I made up a lie. I know where it was.

“Oh well if I see it I’ll let you know okay?” She smiled.  “Wait what in the world are you still doing up at this hour?”

“I couldn’t sleep and then I went to text Kaylee and I couldn’t find my phone.” I walked over to get into bed.

“Oh well you will see her tomorrow. It’s time for bed right now.” I looked at her.

“Did you really just say that mom?” I asked.

“Yes. Yes I just did.” She smiled and walked out.

I rolled over onto my side and went to sleep thinking about Cody and why Michelle was black mailing him. He wasn’t a bad guy. He just had a bad past that he didn’t want anyone to know about. I was going to call Kaylee and talk to her but it was too late and my mom was going to come check on me. She would get mad whenever I was up late on a school night. I fell asleep.

“Kaylee are you okay?” I asked as she got into my car for lunch the next day. I haven’t talked to her about Cody yet but I know that Cody went over there last night after stopping at my house. She looked and acted different all day today and I wasn’t going to push her on talking to me about it. I know that she would talk about it when she was ready to. She looked at me and smiled. The smile was fake.

“Were do you want to go?” I asked.

“Can we go to your house? I mean were no one is around I need to talk to you about a few things starting with Cody. “

I drove to the house Brandon made for me. I unlocked the door and walked in. Kaylee walked to the coach and sat down.

“Okay so for starters Cody comes by last night. At first I didn’t want him there. My mom wasn’t home so it was just me and him. I yelled at him to get out and he didn’t. So I started throwing things at him. He just sat there and took it. He was asking for me to listen to something. He had a phone and he held it out to me. I didn’t take it so he just hit play. I was so mad at him but when it got to the park about Michelle black mailing him I hit the floor.”

“Ari, Cody is being black mailed by Michelle and your being black mailed by him. What happened to us all?”

“Kayl. Sweetie I know that he was being black mailed by her. He came by and showed me before he went to your house last night. Really to tell you the truth I have know for a bit. And well I got to thinking about the fact that he loves you so much that it kills him not having you. Kayl he was going to ask you to marry him after high school. He loves you to much that when Michelle got her hands on that information about Cody that he had to go along with Michelle’s black mail. She was going to tell the whole school if he didn’t. She was going to tell you. He didn’t want that. He wanted to tell you himself. But he wasn't ready to do that just yet. But now that he has, she can’t really do anything about it.”

“Ari but the thing is, is that he slept with her. He was with her. The school slut.” That made me laugh.

“No that’s the thing Kayl he was only with her a few times. Less times then he was with you. And don’t lie to me, I know you well sweetie. You’re my sister and my best friend. Yes He slept with her. Yes its going to take a lot to forgive him for doing that. But I see the look in your eyes, you love him as much as he loves you. But can you forgive him for it?”

“Okay well I can’t lie to you if I don’t tell you how many times. But he still cheated on me with her.”

“But he wants to stop it; he was going to tell you. You were going to be the first one that he told everything to but I walked in on it.”

“That another thing Ari he beat the crap out of you and for what. To scare you into not telling me? Or anyone?” She grabbed onto my hand.

“Kayl okay you need to understand that he was scared about the things Michelle was going to do if he broke it off. She was going to go to the school about it. Think if she did then he loses everything. He can’t go to college if it was to get out to Couch. He didn’t mean for that to happen. He was drunk and in the end he paid the punishment.” I grabbed her hands in mine. "What he did to me yes was wrong and many many levels but oddly enough I forgive him for all that." 

“Ari what do I do? I mean I love him and want to be with him but at the same time he cheated on me and hid something big from me.”

“But he was the one to tell you.” I pointed out to her. "No one else."

There was a knock at the door. I know that it was going to be Brandon and Cody. I texted them to let them know I was coming here with Kaylee and that Cody and Kaylee needed to talk. Brandon and I planned on putting them in the guest room and locking the door from the outside.

“Kaylee can you go to the guest room for a minute?” I looked to her and she started walking to the door.

I waited tell I heard her close the door. Then opened the front door. Brandon and Cody walked in.

“Okay why do you ask me to come with you Brandon?” He asked and he looked at me with sad eyes. I could tell that he was still upset with everything he did to me. He was looking at my eye that was still black and blue. Every morning I had to put make up on to hide it. My back was a little better than before but not put much.
