“Gone to see surprise mom for her birthday be home in a week… oh and the shop called for your car it won’t be fixed tell Saturday. I’m sorry honey I’ll see you in a week.” It was only Wednesday so I only had three until I could get my car back.  I walked back outside and sat down to do my homework under the lights of the porch.   I loved that I lived so far out of town but not when I didn’t have a car. I lived in a 1907 house that wasn’t lived in for years tell my mom and dad bought it and repaired all of it, then they had my brother and four years later had me. The house is big. Bigger for just three people to live in. I don’t think I could every move out though.  By the time I was done with my homework and got something to eat it was almost nine. I locked up and headed off to bed.  In my dreams Brandon and I were ten, sitting out on the porch. We were playing a card game. We were laughing and having a good time by lunchtime we had played over ten different game and he win each one. But I started to win after we ate and were back outside in the warm spring day.                     I woke with a headache. I haven’t had a dream or better yet I  hadn’t thought about him in over three years. I’ve seen him in the halls of school and that the teen hall in town and youth group once but we never once talked. I stayed to myself around him. I messed up on him but after a while I didn’t know how to fix us. I gave up because of that. And I could see that he wanted nothing with me after everything happened. I loved him then and I still love him now.  Don’t get me wrong I have had boyfriends since then but I never loved them like I love Brandon.  After I shower and did my makeup I went down to eat.  Kaylee called at 7:30 to see if I was ready.   “Okay I'll be there in about twenty minutes.” I walked to my mom photo room and grabbed a book that held of the photos of Brandon and me.  I smiled as I went down to the kitchen. I looked at them slowly remembering all the things we did. How he was at my house every day tell his and my mom were done with work. They still work together but don’t really hang out much. I think the last time she was over was when I was about fifteen. “You two were cute.” I jumped.  “Sorry Ari I didn’t mean to scare you.” kaylee said from the door way. Man I'm really in a lot of thought to not hear anything it feels like. “No its okay I was just looking at-.” I looked back down at the photos.  “At the photos of you and Brandon. My question is why?”  “Kai I have something to tell you.”  “What? What?” She jumped up and down. “Brandon came and picked me up last night.” “What! Since when have you guys been talking?” She stopped jumping.  “Umm last night. But I’m sure that we aren’t going to be talking again.”  “Ari. I’m sorry.”  “It’s okay. Now let’s go before we are late again.” I showed a small smile.  I close the book and ran to get my bags. “So why did he give you a ride home and why did you take it? Wait I saw him with Michelle after school yesterday.”   “Well he didn’t really give me a ride home just about two miles up the ride.” I said. “Oh I see.”  “Why?”  “Why what.” She looked at me confused. “I mean I don’t know I’m not him.”  “I know but why would he be out around here if Michelle and him live on the other end of town.” I looked at her.  She smiled at me.  “Common girl we have to go. Do you want to drive?”  I smiled as she through the keys at me. I pulled into the student parking lot just as the first bell rang. Okay so we have ten minutes to do nothing. I looked at the window just as Brandon’s jeep pulled up next to Kaylee's 1990 Ford. She leaded over me to see who it was and then hit her seat hard. “What was that all about?”  “Oh, you know it’s just Brandon and the slut that he calls his girlfriend.”  “Kai!”  I opened the door at the same time Michelle did to get out and hit his jeep.  “Hey watch where you’re going.” She yelled as she hoped out in a mini-skirt and something that I guess would be a shirt for her, but for me it could have been close to a bra.  “Baby, don’t be so mean.” She laughed at him as he said it.  I got out and walked around her just to run into Brandon.  “Sorry I-“ I looked up at his six-six fame. He was smiling down at me. He was a fewer twelve inches taller than me. He didn’t say a word. “I didn’t mean to hit your Jeep.” I looked back at Kaylee. I gave her the look that said I didn’t mean to hit your jeep but your girlfriend, well sorry I missed. She smiled and started walking but stopped.  “What!”  She smiled at me. It wasn’t funny that I was laughing at her. “Be nice.”  “No.”  “Fine.”
