Unfortunate Accident

“Swor-.” “Wait...before we start, are you not going to use your shield? You won’t stand against me if you give up on your defense.” Ethan interrupted Ann’s incantation with a word of thought. “There is something I need to confirm, Ann, do you want this match to end quickly?” “Of course, that’s why I will defeat you as fast as possible.” “Hoh...I admire your confidence, Ann, then shall we start?” “Any time soon.” Finishing their short conversation, Ann jumped out and delivered a vertical s***h with her greatsword- Watching her mid-air, Ethan didn’t waver in the slightest and waited for her to land—. A smile curls his lips. The descending Ann has suddenly blasted away. Her body is flung into the forest by the strong impact that hits her chest. “Good job, Aeyana.” Ethan praised as he looked back from where the arrow was shot from. It was Aeyana. Despite the big canopy of the trees blocking the view from above, she still managed to hit her with great accuracy. However, that short praise ended quickly as Ethan heard a deafening explosion from where Ann landed. Moving at blinding speed, Ann delivered his first blow at Ethan. Surprised by this, he immediately pulled out his greatsword sheathed on his back to block the attack. After successfully landing her attack, she continuously delivers hit after hit with her greatsword. Ethan remained in a defensive position as he parried all her incessant attack. Not long after, the trees surrounding them were ripped away by the wind of their weapons as if it was a piece of coiled tin foil. No one could even tell who was doing all those destructions. Is it Ethan’s greatsword or Ann’s greatsword? But the onslaught continued as they continued to deliver their decisive and powerful blow. At this moment, only the two of them were fighting. Their teammates watched from their vantage point, but also not slipping their sights to their enemy’s vantage point. Ian and Aeyana are sniping each other from the great distance with their long-range attacks. To Aeyana who just interrupted their battle, Ian has to comply with his another hail of rounds as it made him guilty of not being able to protect Ann. His purpose is to not let Aeyana support Ethan by letting her use her long-range sniping skills. But— As expected again, Aeyana sensed all the torrents of rounds and answered using hail of arrows. While the two are in the middle of clashing their greatswords, those who are not yet in the battle decide to join the fight. They were standing idly in their vantage point doing nothing but strengthening their current position. Since they were not making a move on destroying each of their crystals, this battle lost its sense and was turned into a duel, one versus two, and two versus two. Jon, who was watching the fight, was the first one to snap from boredom. ____ Back from the fight between Ethan and Ann, their eyes squinted from a blinding light that radiates from above. Reactively, they looked up and saw a heavenly light descending towards them at blinding speed, creating a piercing sound as it went supersonic. Ethan’s armor is illuminated in golden light. “Danger—” Ann reacted quickly and tried to run away as far as she could. After all, she knows the golden radiance falling at them, It was a skill of a Guardian Class called [Heroic Entrance] a powerful wide-range skill that allows the Guardian to land on one of his allies' positions, granting them high defense after the duration of the skill. Ann knows that Jon could land on the spot in a matter of seconds. And that seconds passed. In a moment, an impact similar to a meteor strike smashed into the earth. Ann jumped out high, avoiding the shockwaves but those traveling at a great distance from the point where the magic barrier that is containing the battlefield shatter from tremendous shock. Not only did the forest be destroyed and vanished but the portion of the city of the Kingdom of Bethia as well. Luckily, no one was there at the time and no one was injured. But that attack signifies the great power of the battle gods. Unfortunately, due to Jon's overwhelming and powerful skill, the two crystals broke. Ending the battle in a draw. What most surprised them was the battle gods that were inside the magic barrier were alive and doing well. To receive that attack from a contained space proves that not only are they strong in magic but strong in physical as well. If any person happened to be inside of it. They will be assimilated with the earth right now. Thus, the match ended in such unfortunate circumstances. Back at the royal palace. The Battle Gods gathered in the throne hall where the king receives them gracefully. A hint of unsatisfied expression carved Jon’s face. He didn’t mean to end the battle quickly, he only used that skill to respond and help Ethan take down Ann but that off-the-scale skill accidentally ended the mock battle. For a player like him who loves long trade fights. Ending it quickly really saddens him. “Rise my new warriors!” The king's dignified voice echoed in the throne hall, making the battle gods stand up from their kneeling position. “I am so elated that you’re shown as a great fight and your great powers. The country really thank you for that despite damaging part of our town.” When he said those last words, Ethan walked forward and bowed his head with an apologetic expression. While keeping his valiant figure he spoke. “I’m very sorry your majesty about that matter. As the captain of this guild, I’ll make sure that one of my subordinates thoroughly reflects on his grave mistake even if no lives were harmed that time.” “Raise your head, young one. You don’t need to apologize, in fact, we should be the ones to say sorry for testing you. From the battle, you’ve shown us. We concluded that your guild is strong enough to take on a big country like us. Don’t worry, I’ll be taking responsibility for Jon's action. I knew from a glance that it was an accident and was not intending to hurt my citizens...Rest assured that your sincere and compassionate words will reach the affected citizens of Bethia.” Ethan was grateful at his words, so he bowed deeply. “Thank you, your majesty. Then as for the test...do we pass?” Ethan asked. With a smile on the king’s face, he replied. “Of course you pass, your powers will absolutely bring victory to the Bethia Kingdom on the sacred tournament.” Ethan frowned after hearing the last two words. “Sacred tournament?” “That’s right, we didn’t tell you at first since we don’t know you yet and unsure of your powers, but after seeing your commitment to the king, I shall explain the real purpose of the tournament that happens once a year…”
