“This must be it…”
Jericho observed his surroundings, he walked towards the perimeter of Team B’s base of operation.
“Only one?”
A voice echoed in the forest, it was sharp and gallant. Jericho instantly assumed a battle stance after hearing that voice.
His tone, his speech, his pitch, there’s no mistaking it. It was Manuel.
Jericho struck his head upwards, what he saw was his fellow guild member, Manuel, who was waiting for him kneeling on one knee atop a tree branch
He is sheathed in black armor, an ax resting on his shoulder, he jumped out from the branch of the tree and attacked Jericho with a vertical swing of his ax.
A simple attack like that is easily blocked by the shaft of Jericho’s strident. Enormous shockwaves were produced, his attack packed with overwhelming power.
It truly reflected his great stats in strength.
Manuel wasn’t surprised about this. He jumped out right after delivering his blow to create distance between them.
“Jericho, what a brazen move of yours to infiltrate our vantage point alone. I can’t decide whether you’re are brave or just stupid.”
“You don’t need to concern yourself for that as I do not know why our captain decided to send me right to your doorstep. Maybe he is confident that I can take anyone from Team B. After all, your mere boasting doesn’t have an effect on me. If you want to fight then so be it. No need to talk any further.”
“Hoh, is that so? Then pardon me for speaking unnecessary things…What?”
In a blink of an eye, Jericho disappeared instantly and appeared behind him. His cold gaze filled with murderous intent reflected along with a thrust of his trident.
This surprised Manuel as he immediately jerked his head to the side, dodging the incoming trident coming at his head at an insane speed.
Despite dodging it by tilting his head, the three-pronged spear was able to scratch his helmet, reminding him that he lowered his guard.
“You…”
In battle stance, Manuel lowered his body even more and swung his ax downward, Jericho saw it and instantly jumped out of safety.
However, thinking that he escaped that deadly sweep that could probably have sliced his legs, Manuel didn’t falter and decided to chase him.
Crushing the ground beneath his feet, Manuel charged at him like a speeding bullet and grabbed his head, his grasp firmly tightened as he prepared to thrash him to the ground.
“[Grappling Blow]”
As he said those words, his body answered his heed and supplied the muscles in the arms with overwhelming force.
-Boom.
Slamming his head, the ground shattered in an instant, creating a wide crater after being thrashed down powerfully.
“-Gukkk”
Jericho’s face contorted in pain, it was a deadly blow that could shatter his head. If this was his real body, he wouldn’t survive it. Dumbfounded at the current circumstances, he looked at Manuel whose face is still wanting more violence.
“[Flying Swing]”
This time, he swung his ax up, it smashed into his head, launching Jericho up into the air.
“Gahhh.”
He let out another word of anguish, his vision began to blur after receiving a powerful strike of Manuel. It was a deadly swing that could split his face into two.
But this is not the time to falter, he corrected his posture in the air by maneuvering it a little. Jericho hurled his trident toward Manuel like a gush of water.
Surprised again by these circumstances, Manuel with his heightened perception evaded the incoming spear by tilting his head to the side.
With an infuriating expression carved in his face, Manuel said something to him.
“Why do you bother to hit me in the head?”
The first one was clearly heading to his head, the second is also coming to his head. Why does Jericho resort to something? Does he wish for critical damage?
Though it can work in the game where you can make your attack to proc the critical if you hit any vital weak points of the avatar.
But he is wearing his helmet, in fact, he could take the attack head-on but he is worried that something might happen unfavorable to him.
Jericho who landed safely on the ground gave him a dumbfounded expression.
“How dare you say that when you’re the one who is going for my head. With your flying swing skill, it directly hit my head.”
“Hmm, so that was it. Sorry for doing so without consideration. I could’ve killed you in that attack, I was so careless. But your head is hard as a mountain that it can’t even break or shatter with my battle-ax.”
“Enough talk..” He outstretched his hand towards the trident that was thrown by him before.
Then the trident reeled towards him.
“It’s time for me to get serious, I will be defeated at this rate if I keep receiving blows one after another.”
Manuel gritted his teeth in irritation.
“Are you saying that you were not serious until now? Or is that an excuse for your foolish and flawed movements?”
“Hmmph, maybe you are right about that and maybe you are wrong. But this time, I shall give you a battle that is worth remembering…”
He dashed quickly after finishing his declaration of an attack, and with one hand, he thrust his godly trident towards Manuel again, but this time. It was different.
It covered a lot of areas that make it impossible to evade or dodge. Each thrust moves at godly speed, creating an afterimage. It was forty...no fifty series thrusts of the spear in an instant.
Manuel took the attack head-on, but he is not suitable to deflect or parry its attack due to his main weapon. It was an ax, it was not good in deflecting and parrying a high-speed attack.
In order to do so, he needs to recalibrate and reposition his body parallel to the ax again and again but the situation is not favorable to him.
So he took nearly everything of the godly thrust. His black armor chirped from each blow as blood trickled down from the exposed body of Manuel.
However…
It was not the end, Jericho pokes the sternum of his armor weakly. An enormous concentration of magic began to converge on the middle tip of the three-pronged spear.
“[Awakened Phantasm Riptide]”
Completing the process of the skill, Jericho released a beam of ice from the tip of his spear, freezing everything on its path, including the battle god Manuel.
“Let me take care of him…”
Another voice rang in the forest...it was soothing yet deadly. A cocoon of black smoke began to engulf the frozen Manuel and moments later.
The ice tomb crackled, she moved her scythe fluidly in all exposed vital points of Manuel.
Manuel fell to the ground with a thud and his body was whisked in light particles. Teleporting him in the spectator’s hall.
One of the Battle Gods was defeated.
Jericho lowered his battle stance after seeing the woman in front of him.
“Angelica, why did you steal my kill?”
That was Angelica, a Ripper Class that is an expert on assassination and one-hitting an enemy with its high-damage combo attacks. What she did on Manuel was just like that.
“Steal? If I let you continue on your battle, it might take another three minutes or so.”
“Well if you say so...after all, their front line is no more. Destroyer is such a scary class in one versus one and he almost got me. If the battle extends for so long. I might not be able to survive and will be the one who’s lying on the ground.”
…
A strike of lightning appeared between them, interrupting their brief conversation.
Jericho reacted swiftly and delivered another torrent of thrust. But it was deflected and got countered by slashing an electric-swathe sword.
Angelica also saw this and assumed a battle stance and quickly dashed in front of who seems to be Jasper.
Their main weapons clashed.
Her scythe moves like a whirlwind.
His sword filled with the power of lightning. They exchange blows as their weapons sparked upon contact, counterattacking and parrying each of their attacks.
And then their weapons clashed for the twentieth time in this exchange. The two main weapons of each class entangled with each other and they proceeded to a contest of pure physical strength.
“OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!”
Howling, Jasper forcibly pushed back Angelica. The distance between them widened—and Jasper dashed towards the standing Jericho.
It was an opportunity that he didn’t miss.
With a thunderous strike, he pierced Jericho’s chest.
The immobilized Angelica immediately rose and chains began to protrude from earth as it tried to grapple Jasper—.
With a godspeed s***h, Jasper destroyed all the chains that were coming to him.
A smell of thunder stung their nose but neither side faltered. Angelica blinked in front of Jasper as Jericho thrust his trident in hopes of delivering some heavy damage.
But it was futile…
Jasper evaded, sidestepped, parried all their attacks. He was just too fast.
Despite fighting in a 2v1 situation. Jasper excelled greatly in blow by blow.
“Enough of this…[ Strike of the Thunder Emperor ]”
Jasper said, leaving the two in surprise. At this moment, they knew what was going to happen to both of them.
He just used one of his transcendent abilities.
Turning into lightning, Jasper slashed the two in blinding speed, leaving a trail of lightning behind.
Then the two battle gods fell to the ground and were whisked away just like Manuel.
The scoreboard is now 1:2. One from Team A and two from Team B.
After the two was defeated, Jasper sheathed his sword—
“Guaghhh.”
Something fast hit him. He glanced over his shoulder and saw an arrow. He wasn’t able to react in time. No…he couldn’t react. Those arrows were concealed after being shot. Making it impossible to sense even if you’re a battle god.
“I see…”
He realized that it was probably one of Aeyana’s transcendent skills, [Arrow Concealment].
Jasper looked over the horizon and sensed something. Looks like Aeyana didn’t use the arrow concealment. Is this a mistake? She knew that he could sense it so why do it on purpose?
But this is not the time to overthink things. Jasper could easily evade by just jumping out but…out of five arrows, three successfully marked him.
“She predicted my movement?” He mutters to himself and realizes again something, “I see Aeyana you are really the world's strongest Sniper in AEON. To be able to calculate all evasive possibilities plus the behavior and habit of the player. Amazing…”
A wide smile appeared on his face as he stood up and took a defensive stance with his sword.
-----
“I think it’s my time to shine.” Ethan who is in full armor pulled out his greatswords and suddenly disappeared in an instant.
----
Blood gushed out from Jasper’s neck. It was not an arrow that wounded him fatally but a sword that is moving so fast for him to see.
With the remaining strength he has, Jasper turned his head and saw the most fearsome warrior in the history of Legends of AEON.
“Ethan Gonzales…How…”
He fainted before finishing his sentence and was whisked away from the battlefield.
Now that the score is even, Ethan looked up at the elevated earth where the rest of the Team B members are located.
His eyes filled with provocation...and any moments later, one of them would surely answer his call.
----
“Matthew can I?” Ann asked Matthew.
“You can…” He said simply, “Go and defeat their captain, I’ll be in touch whenever you need me.”
“Thank you...Matt.”
---
Someone landed on the battlefield of where Ethan was standing. From the looks of it, it seemed like Ann just performed a heroic entrance.
“I’m sorry for making you wait...Captain.”
Ethan nodded simply.
“Then shall we start? This time I won’t cry.” Ann said, firmly holding her greatsword.
“Thank you for assuring me since it will be better if you do not. I don’t want for the audience to see how I will crush you that will make you cry.”
Ethan said proudly and tightly gripped the greatsword.
“My name is Ethan Gonzales, the most feared player in the history of AEON, if you’re not scared of my sword then come at once.”
