On the night of the Poeta Village, soldiers and rented mercenaries started drinking together and dancing together after defending the Poeta Village, even though they didn’t contribute as simply as throwing stones. Defending a village with one hundred thousand monsters invading is a brave and valiant honor for them because others didn’t even try.
Inside one of the taverns, Ian and Alexander were at the same table drinking beers and eating fried frog legs.
“I never knew that there is a powerful person like you in the Bethia Kingdom, I humbly express my gratitude for protecting our people...and for that, drinks on me.”
“Thank you…” Ian casually started gulping the beer in one gulp.
With a plop, Alexander put down the mug on the table and wore a serious look.
“So then, what rewards do you want? His majesty will gladly accept any wishes you have in your heart. Just say the word and I’ll assure you it will arrive at His majesty.”
“Actually, I haven’t thought of any reward but money will do.” Ian spat out his wish in confidence.
“So money huh? You could’ve asked for the territory of nobility but you chose money?”
“Money is the most important thing for us for now. The territory might come later.”
“Then I suggest you wish for territory and money, it's a small price to pay for a hero like you.”
“Hero?” Ian tilted his head to the side…
“I don’t know why you’re confused but defeating one hundred monsters in one skill is not an easy feat. Your power is strong as well as that which can compete with top-ranked heroes in Bethia...I see, I must have forgotten to ask…What is your name?”
“My name is simple, Ian. Just call me Ian.”
“Ian? I really never heard of that name before, especially for someone as strong as you...you should’ve been noticed by us...so that means you’re not from here aren’t you?”
“That’s correct, we came from the far lands maybe even farther than the galaxy...hehehe.”
“Hmm...so that’s the reason why we never heard of you before...then is that all you’ve wanted to wish?”
“Actually there is one...there is a reward for finding the two princesses right? We will take it as well.”
This time, the joyous face of Alexander wears off, and leaned forward as he furrowed his brows.
“The princess was missing since yesterday and was probably attacked and kidn*pped. But with a person as strong as you, it will be an easy feat if you help us…”
Although Ian knew that the princesses are safe at the Estate and can lead them right through it right away, he still had some decency to finish someone who was talking.
“Well, the thing is the princesses are safe in our home…”
Alexander's eyes widened...to think that someone had already rescued the princesses.
“Th-the princesses are in your home?! Since when?”
As he stood up and slammed the table in front of him, he shouted in disbelief, attracting the attention of every person in the taverns. They also heard the words that are coming out of Alexander’s mouth. Specifically, “Princesses”.
“The princess is in that hero’s house?”
“Impossible?”
“So he is the one who saved the princesses and saved the town? How marvelous.”
“I couldn’t agree more, heroes from another nation are really compassionate towards us! Except for our top-ranked heroes who do nothing but entertain themselves, Remember Earl? He didn’t even show up in the battle.”
…
“Sir Ian, would you please lead us to your house? We will get the princesses ASAP.” Alexander's tones were in deep respect and tried not to offend Ian in any sort of way.
First of all, he knew the power differences, second, he single-handedly defeated one hundred monsters, and third, he didn't want this guy to be his enemy.
“No problem, we're going to return the princesses as soon as possible anyway. To confirm that we have the princesses, I can recite you their name…” Ian said.
“Please do…”
“Okay, the name of the Second Princess is Christine Bethia and the Third Princess is Fiona Bethia. I don’t know the middle name but I believed that is th…”
Before Ian could even finish his sentences, Alexander knelt in front of him. The soldiers who are in the same tavern as him, in respect to their great general, knelt as well.
“Hey...hey? What are you doing guys?”
“We thank you for rescuing our princess, we can’t thank you enough for your deeds so please accept this honor of ours on kneeling in front of you.”
Alexander said reverently, lowering his head with great dignity and pride of a warrior. Ian who was just an ordinary person in another world can’t handle this unyielding presence.
“Okay, but we will move at dawn, Our leader of our guild is wanting to talk with you in terms of the reward of rescuing the princess. To be honest, I helped you because the princess said so…”
Alexander struck his head upwards, dumbfounded at the words of Ian. So, he was acting on the order of the princess?
The dawn has come and the troops of Bethia Kingdom are preparing for another expedition. Though this expedition of them is not going to war but to actually escort Ian on his way back to home and escort the princesses back to their home. It was an exchange and to prevent any mishaps that could happen to the princesses again.
“Then are you ready sir Ian?”
Ian straddled up on the horse and raised his thumb, indicating to Alexander that he is ready.
“Good, we will now embark.”
On their way to the Estate, Ian exchanged words with Alexander to pass the time. The mansion was far and even though Ian can return to it in an instant, he couldn’t do so because the army doesn't know the way to their mansion.
He learned so much by just talking to Alexander while riding their horses, he learned about the culture, the people, the bureaucracy, and the like. Ian wasn’t even interested in the subject but for the sake of their survival in this world, he has to thank this opportunity of asking the revered General of Bethia Kingdom.
Meanwhile, same day and time. Angelica and Jasper were sitting on the tree branch, scouting and guarding the perimeter of the Mansion. It wasn’t long enough for them to sense that something was headed their way.
“Enemies?” Angelica noticed the uneasiness of Jasper as he stood up from the branch, looking over the horizon.
Angelica looked in the direction where Jasper's eyes were pointed, but she saw nothing but the horizon and big canopies of the trees. Even if the tree that they are standing right now is the tallest among them, Angelica wasn’t able to see or feel what Jasper is sensing.
“Oi, don’t ignore me, Jasper, just tell me already,” Angelica demanded,
“My intuition is telling me that there is a crowd coming towards us...probably thousands of them…”
Angelica tilted her head to the side, confusingly. She doesn’t sense anything by chance. Is it because of their class difference? As a Ripper who excels in close-combat and short trades assassination, the Duelist has an innate passive skill called [Intuition]. It senses any monsters or players in a 25-meter radius but since they were transferred in this world where their skill is off the scale and does not abide in the game system anymore. Perhaps his intuition ranges increase hundred times for that.
“I see, then what should we do?” Angelica asked.
“I’ll go and meet them, you inform the captain about the matters,” Jasper replied firmly.
“Understood.”
Angelica vanished in the mist, Jasper jumped out from the branch of the tree and started hopping trees by trees, wearing his wicked smile on his face.
