Mates

All humans were lined up in preparation to be chosen by their new owners. But before they were sent inside the big door where the throne is, Samuel meet them.

"Listen up, I want to warn you all about your human attitude. These individuals behind this door are of zero tolerance for high stature. In your place, you may be somebody but here you are a nobody. So don't act as if your above everything..."

While Samuel continue to give instructions Justin whispered, "How did you find this place Eva?", 'I meet someone in our place. He introduced me to this place."

"He?" she rolled her eyes, "Yes, he. Now pay attention. Also, get rid of your arrogant trait, this is not the place for it."

"Alright! Try to look your best and good luck." Samuel ended. The door opened and one by one humans go in.

"Remember Justin, keep your head down and control your attitude." Eva reminded. She suddenly got a surprise hug from behind. "Welcome back."

"Ohh hi." she smiled, "Ah this must be your brother? Hi I'm Samuel, one of the palace knights, I'm in charge of the new arrivals," he explained.

Justin doesn't know how to react, seeing this man all serious and scary when he gave the instruction a while ago but now, all acting cute and bubbly with his sister.

He takes his hand, "Justin." Samuel nods, "Alright buddy, just keep things right and stay low, that way you will attract owners. They may not choose you right now since it will take trust and connection but I'm sure someone will. But whatever it takes you have to get chosen."

Justin nods as he takes a step inside the big room. Upon his entry, he saw that others were already chosen. He stood in line with the others.

"Your Grace, these are the new batch of humans who takes refuge in our world. As we can see, few are already been chosen, mostly are the females too." Samuel informed.

Kelly bowed her head, "Do you think Drake and his clan will come back to take the unwanted?" she asked.

Nolan steps forward, "Your Grace, that can't be helped. It's already a deal made, it was signed and sealed so it can't be changed."

She took a sigh, "Hans left last night after giving some of his blood to Elle. Both of them are still weak. Elle needed days of rest. As for Hans, his ability has been weakened. If there will be an attack, we may not get any help from them, so maximize the patrol and maned every possible entry to the kingdom."

Nolan bowed, "Understood Your Grace. I will deal with it myself. Samuel will guide the new arrivals, make sure they won't create any trouble around here, and keep them away from the bullies. Trevor will keep watch on the Queen."

Meanwhile, in the Queen's chamber, Trevor was looking outside the window observing the activities outside led by Nolan. "They have tightened the security, Your Grace might have ordered it," he said.

"Why is my brother's blood have a different effect on me. It should have made me stronger but, why does it always take several days for me to be on the right track," she mumbles while her back is facing him.

"I wish I can answer your query My Queen but I'm only a knight, perhaps your best friend might be able to." she giggles at his words.

"You probably miss her already. She's been out for a decade training to become the best mage of the kingdom." but he didn't say a word. She was supposed to close her eyes when the familiar scent passed on her nostrils.

"What's that smell?" she sat on the bed with a wrinkled forehead, "What smell My Queen?" he asked, she looked at Trevor and shook her head, "Nevermind." she went back to bed and close her eyes.

In the school cafeteria, Justin and the others who are not yet chosen assisted in the kitchen duty. It was a normal day for everyone until Raul, one of the royal blood came with his minions. As soon as everyone saw them they bowed their head avoiding eye to eye contact.

Raul looked around looking for his prey of the day, he smirked when he found her. He approached one table and the ones occupying it flee except the pair who is prevented to stand. It was a goblin and his human partner.

"Well hello, there pretty girl." Raul teased, he stroked the girl's face indicating that he is interested in her.

"Please, I begged you, leave my mate alone." the goblin pleaded, but Raul and his men only laugh hard.

"How come a goblin gets a pretty mate like you? This ugly creature doesn't deserve to have a beauty. Come with me and I will make you my beautiful mate." Raul announced.

"I'm sorry, I can't abandon my mate or he will die." the girl said.

"Then let him die, he is a nobody, not a big loss to the kingdom at all. A lowly of which nobody would even remember if he disappear today and never come back." Raul added.

"Please, I will do anything just don't take her away from me." the goblin implored.

Raul smirked, "Anything you say?" the goblin nodded. "Well if you don't want to let her go, kill her then." the goblin's eyes widened. Just as I thought, you offered to do anything for her but you won't even kill her if I asked you to."

However, another voice was heard on the next table, "What kind of stupidity are you trying to prove? You want him to do something so you won't take his mate away from him and yet you ask him to kill the only reason he will do anything for you. What kind of logic is that?"

Raul and his men divert their attention to the man wiping the table after removing the used dishes from the table. Raul raised his brow and slowly approaches the man.

"And you are?" he asked, and the man answered, "Just a nobody, who can't stand someone who tried to manipulate people just to prove that they are above them and yet also feared somebody else."

With a snap of Raul's finger, his men pulled him and made him kneel in front of him. Everyone in the cafeteria was helpless.

"A brave human I see. You're probably new and don't know who I am?" Raul blurted

"I guess your one of the ruler wanna bes?" he continued to taunt him. "I was warned of vamps like you." he did still avoiding eye contact.

Raul laughs, "What makes you think we are vampires and not other creatures? We haven't shown our true form yet."

"Arrogant, cocky, bossy, and well, ruler wanna be, they said only vampires had the guts to do that here while the others were very respectful to the other kind." he answered.

Raul pokes his tongue into his inner cheek as he is starting to get pissed to the man in front. "Hey, new guy, do you know what happens to human like you in this place?"

He chuckled, "They die eventually, right, because of their big mouth?"

"For a refugee and an outlaw from your human world, you are smart." he pulled his hair trying to look at his eyes but the man shut his eyes tight. "Look at me."

But he laughs, "You are not worth my sight." and that just pulled Raul's last string of patience as he punch him directly to his face.

Blood came out from his mouth that made every vampire in the cafeteria crave for it, but Raul snap each a stare and said, "He is mine." then he direct his attention to the man in front of him. "Let's see if you can still resist me if I will turn you and make you my pet."

He tilt his head showing his neck while the man squirmed to get freed from the men holding his both arms. When he opened his eyes he saw Raul's fangs slowly showing ready to bite his neck. Raul was about to dig his fangs when a force pushed him and his men away.

Then appeared a beautiful lady, "This is my day to finally come home and this is how you welcome me?" she looks at Raul trying to get back to his feet.

"Trisha!" called out Raul as everyone bowed to the newly arrived Kingdom's Mage.

"I suggest you leave this place Raul while I still let you or I will turn you all to frogs."

Raul and his men do as they were told but before he totally went out, he looks at the man and mouthed, "It's not over yet." and continue his way out.

Trisha looks at everyone, "The trouble is over you may now continue your activities. As for you, haven't you been instructed to leave your human attitude of dominance in your place, this is not the place where you can rule."

"Well if only the one who looks after the them did their job, then there would be no one like that of Raul who tried to look down on every kind that he thinks won't do him any harm."

"You're mouth will kill you one day." Trish explained

"If that's how my life ends, at least I did something to make others realize that everyone is free to live a supposed life without fear." he uttered.

She smiled, "I guess you are knew here. What does your master call you?"

"He is not yet picked." says Kelly. "Welcome back Trish. She's been waiting for you. She's not doing well." she informed.

"I'll go see her now." then she looks at the man. "What's your name human?" she asked

"Justin." he answered while he massage the area of his face where he got punched.

"Well Justin, from now on you watch your back, Raul and his men are not easy to handle. They only stop when they are satisfied. Keep your eyes open." then she walked away with Kelly.

Time Skipped...

Justin took a stroll around the school ground when suddenly he was pushed to the ground and his sight went peach black.

He was brought to a certain place with a piece of cloth covering his eyes.

"Boss, we got him." then he heard someone laugh, "Well, well, well, who do we have here. It's the brave little human who thinks he can stand against us." his men laugh.

"Let me go!" Justin ordered but got a punch straight to his stomach as a reply, "I gave orders here human not you, so don't ever open your mouth not unless I tell you to do so." gave him another slap on the face.

Justin chuckled, "I think we got a problem, I don't follow orders from someone like you."

"Really, then let's see if you can resist being compelled to. Take the cloth from his eyes." he instructed his men.

Justin remembered what his sister said about looking straight into a vampire's eyes. They can compel you to do something even if it's against your will. So he closes his eyes tight.

"Open your eyes human." but he didn't listen, so Raul ordered his men to beat him up. Once Justin is weak his men held him up again.

"Open your eyes." but still he didn't do it. So Raul got a knife and pierce it into Justin's hand, Justin shouts in pain but someone covers his mouth.

Raul shouted angrily, "Open your eyes..." because he was pissed at Justin's stubbornness he almost stab him when someone spoke.

"What are you doing?" shivers run their spine as soon as they heard the voice. Raul's men are already on their knees with their heads on the ground while he froze on his spot.

Justin who's on the ground tried to open his his eyes to have a glimpse of the person who saves him in a nick of time.

"You never learn do you?" she walks slowly towards the now nervous Raul, "I have already punished your group enough from what you did the last time and now you are doing it again. Are you testing my patience?"

"This human humiliates me in front of the entire school, don't you think I shouldn't make my move to make him pay for that?" Raul answered although he is stuttering a little but he tried to make a straight face.

A smirk appeared on the lips of the one intruding, "My, my Raul, stop being so arrogant, it doesn't mean that I just let you do the things you want that I didn't care at all. I think you deserved it. A human who's not afraid to put you back to your place reminding you of who you are."

She squats down near Justin and checks him out and in her mind, she said, "The smell, it comes from him, it really does comes from him." her heart picks up a speed when she saw his bruises and wound. Her eye color suddenly changes to different color and having the urge to hold him to her arms.

Meanwhile in Justin's mind, "I think this is my end? My sister warned me about it the but I still didn't listen. I won't be a slave of the royalty wanna be, but I'm sure I'll be a royalty's meal today." he was still busy talking to himself when a blurry image that looks like a dog appeared and spoke, "I don't think she will hurt you." Justin focus his attention to the blurry image, "Wait, who are you? What are you doing inside my head?" he asked

"I have been with you ever since but you aren't to strong to keep me in your conscious mind. Although I speak to you sometimes as your conscience but you can't sustain your ability yet."

"What are you talking about? Who are you and what ability are you referring to? What are you doing in my head?"

"You and I are one. I only appear when you are strong and if someone in particular have appeared in front of us of which I think she did. We found her."

"Her? Found her? I don't understand?" Justin exclaimed.

"You will understand soon. There are lots of things that you still ought to remember before I can fully take my place in your life, as of now I am satisfied that I can appear to you like this although can't stay long. Trust her Justin, she will not hurt you. As long as she will acknowledge you, no one can." then the voice vanish.

"Hey, hey, young man. Wake up." Justin flutters his eyes while he tried to get a clearer view of the person in front of him. "You know what your attitude and your mouth will be the death of you," she said

He tried to sit up and lean his back to the fence, "Where did they go?"

"You are hurt, I think you should get yourself checked for any broken bone. I will call someone to assist you." she walked away when he said

"What's your name?" she stopped at her spot and slowly turn in his direction, "I don't tell humans my name," she said.

"Are you the Queen of this kingdom?" he asked to which she instantly replied, "If I am, what's in it for you?" she looks at him with a wrinkled forehead, she was wondering why, even if the human in front of her has some blood in some parts of his body but she didn't even have the urge to drink him dry.

Justin was trying to keep his consciousness but his body is too weak to keep up, the last thing he heard was her question as he black out leaving his mind to his other-self.

She checked him and knew that he already lost consciousness but she wonders why it seems there was another person inside of him.

She stood her ground preparing for the worst as she thought the human is not what she thinks at all, but everything went blank when he said, "Mate" before he totally fell on the ground.

Her eyes went wide and could not even get a word out from her mouth. All she can hear was her raising heart beat. She kneeled beside him and looks at him with atrocity. She almost held her hand when Trevor and Trish appeared.

"What happened here My Queen?" Trisha asked but all Elle could do is to look at her. "Trevor, take this human to the infirmary and you my queen, let's get you back to your chamber."

As Trevor carried Justin on his back, Elle couldn't take her eyes off him until they are out of her sight.

Back in her Chamber

"Look, I'm glad that you took an interest in drinking human blood now but, you can't have some until your brother's blood has settled into your system." Trish explained.

She rolled her eyes, "I didn't do that to him. It was Raul and his men. I save him from them."

Trish frowned, "Are you okay? You look different though? Did something happen?"

She shook her head, "I have a question. You and Trever, have you found your mates? I mean, are you two mates even if you are different?"

Trish raised her right brow, "Well, different entities can only acknowledge mates if they were rejected by their true mates. And mates are only applicable to high species like Vampires and the other...one of whom we don't speak. Why do you ask?"

"Humans, they find their mates through affection and intimacy right?" she asked again.

"Human called it attraction. If they like a certain someone they tend to show their feeling and they declare their feelings through proposals, engagements and marriage. On your part it's different, you declared it and marked them as yours and you will be forever bonded. For humans on the other hand, they still have the chance to run away from that declaration." Trish answered.

She nods, "I see." Trish frowned, "Why do you wanna know?" she suddenly gasp, "Is it because of the human a while ago? Did he declare his feeling to you?" she asked in excitement.

"Don't be stupid. He's a human. I'm done with humans remember." Elle laid down, "I'm going to take a rest. Please watch the others for me."

"Okay." she placed the blanket properly and move towards the door but before she could twist the knob, "Oh and Trish, welcome back." Elle said without even turning. Trish smiled, "It's good to be back Elle. I'll see you later."

A few days later in the throne room gathered the three head knights, elders, the mage and the member of the royal family because of some issue unresolve.

"I'm telling you, our own kind killing each other is not the solution to this kind of problem." one of the elders spoke.

"But they started it. They are our kind but they are the ones that started killing them. They are even using them to penetrate the kingdom, even using humans to the extent just to get rid of the royal family." Nolan stated.

"But killing is not the answer for this. We can still patch it up with a deal." another elder spoke

"How many deals do we have to make, they still keep on breaking it. As long as the ruler is not changed they will never follow the so-called deals." Nolan makes a point.

Elle was just seated on her throne while Hans is standing beside her. She was feeling stressed and pissed since the number of deaths is increasing.

Another elder spoke, "I think these times, deals, and talks are not working then maybe it's time for the royals to make a statement."

"Are you out of your mind Rim, you are not possibly giving them your vote to choose violence."

"If this is the only way to stop the killings then I'm giving it. Remember this is our kind we are talking about, what if the other hears about this issue and will use this as their advantage thinking that we are not unified in this kingdom. We are here to balance the equation and help our Queen rule."

Everyone turns their eyes on the silent Queen who's closing her eyes contemplating about something. Hans feeling her rage spoke.

"You are all free to give in your suggestions and reasons but in the end, it's still Our Queen's decision that will prevail," Hans uttered.

Elle sighed and stood up, "I am too angry to stay here and listen. I'm leaving, Hans take care of this issue." he approached her, "Are you okay?" he asked

"I need to be somewhere else but here." then she looks at Trevor, "I needed to be alone for a while. I will call you as soon as something went wrong." then she vanished.

She appeared in the tallest tower overlooking the whole kingdom. She screams her anger out as tears also stream from her eyes. She was on the ground pouring her heart out when a pair of hands held her.

Being cautious, she yanked his hand and choke him as he drag him to the edge of the ledge. But as soon as she gets a clearer view of the person, she pulled him in instantly and lets go of him dropping him on the floor.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you," he said.

"Are you crazy, I could have killed you," she replied as she paced back and forth

"Why didn't you?" he asked

She stopped her pace and looks at him. Hey, eyes widen when she meets his eyes looking straight into her eyes.

Usually, humans who look straight into her eyes will either fall into a coma or go wild and suicidal, but as for him, he didn't even show any signs of it. She was even surprised when she felt calm from her rage a while ago.

In her thoughts, she said, "Why do I feel well everytime I'm around him. He can calm my nerves down." she was into her thoughts when he spoke.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked, "What?"," The things that made you scream and cried your heart out." he walks near the ledge, "I don't know if it's the same like humans, but whenever we felt we are full of the world shits we tend to find someone of whom we can pour it out to." he sat on the ledge and offer his hand to assist her to sit next to him.

Elle was hesitant as she looks at his hand then to his half-smiling face. After being skeptical about it, she took his hand and sat beside him..

He giggled, "Whenever you're ready." she just looks at him.

"I don't know where to start." she sighed, "I usually handle things on my own. I have no one to depend on. But, everyone else depends on me." she bowed her head.

"It must have been pretty tough for you, carrying all the burdens. But didn't you have the young prince and the others with you?" he asked

"My brother had to manage our people who is staying in your world. He had to maintain balance, making sure that our people who seek refuge in ur place will be treated well and will never be a cause of a problem that will give of evidence of our existence. He sacrificed enough being away from his wife." she informed.

"The kingdom is my responsibility, I am trying to control the peace and unite my people reaching one goal so if the enemy will decide to come we can stand against them." she added.

"Enemy? You mean other vampires?" he asked.

"Humans probably heard about Vampire's ultimate adversary."

"Werewolves." he said, "But I thought it was just an urban legend a myth per say. Something created to just stir up the minds of the people."

"You don't believe in Werewolves and yet you're talking to the Queen of the Vampires." she said.

"So, is it true then, that your feud has gone from centuries to centuries and decades to decades it's because you just want to see who is more dominant than the other?" he asked but she just smiled.

"My sister said that, there is really no point in fighting. She said both had their own kingdoms to rule why still fight about it?"

"As long as there has never been a peace treaty, both our worlds will be at war. It's been a long time since we met a werewolf from a royal family, but I would never dream to meet one as well." Justin just looks at her.

"Well there is this prophecy, they said that our kind will fall in love with the other, they will come out as the dominant hybrid species that will take control of the whole world. Though it didn't say how but it says that they will put an end to this war and will destroy anyone or anything that will stand in their way." she said.

He looks up to the stars in the sky, "Don't you think that's a good thing? I mean maybe they will reunite all the species and form one kingdom where both kinds live equally?" she took a glance at him.

"Werewolves are clever and cunning. Maybe it doesn't go for everyone but, ambitions can flood the desire of having a good relationship. Anyway, that's why we live in two different kingdoms because the prophecy could happen at any time."

"Especially to the royal blood right?" he asked

She nods, "There are lots of royal blood scattered out there. They could meet someone and fall in love, then found out later that they are the chosen ones to fulfill the prophecy. I don't want to imagine what will happen then."

"Then it would be your responsibility to guide them to the right path. You're the Queen."

"Not everyone believes it. They lost hope on the royal blood long time ago. And I made it worst when I fell in live with..." she gulp up a lump of saliva. "A werewolf?" he blurted.

"No of course not. A human. He wasn't my mate but I tend to make my mate reject me if ever I found him. But I didn't turn him. He wanted to stay human. My kind hate me for giving in to his request. They say I wasn't supposed to let anyone dictate my judgment but he was different, he helped with lots of things. He gave me his wisdom of leading the kingdom in the right path, and despite of being hated, he stayed by my side until his last breath. After he died, I wouldn't dare to open up my heart again."

"Pardon me for asking but, he is human, right? Do you feed on him?" he asked innocently.

"I stopped feeding on human blood when we're together. Animal blood, I take in animal blood, but it's different from that of humans, somehow it makes me vulnerable. I have to feed on my brother to keep up...." she suddenly stopped when she realized that she is telling all her secrets to a total stranger. "How do you do that?" she asked with a wrinkled forehead

"What? What did I do?" feeling confused

"How did you make me open up to you." she suddenly stood up and he followed. "What did you do to me?" she runs her finger to her hair. "No, no, no this could not be happening."

"What's wrong? he inquired

She suddenly pulled him, " Look into my eyes, you need to forget everything we ever talked about. You need to forget that we never meet here. I compelled you to forget everything tonight. Sleep and forget."

And in an instant Justin lose his consciousness but Elle caught him just in time but even if he is in that state she was shocked when another voice came out of his mouth, "My Mate, My Queen." then suddenly she was struck with a bright light and an image flashed showing Elle in a wedding dress and the man in her arms on a suit, kissing.

She instantly opens her eyes and let's him go, "No, no it can't be." she looks at him, "My Mate." then a loud thunder roars with flashes of lightning.

At that moment, all the wizards, mages, magicians, and sorcerers look at the sky all at the same time. Then the head of their council spoke, "Brace yourselves everyone, the moment were all been waiting for is here, the prophecy, its about to come true."

Back in the throne room while Trish is looking at the sky from a window, she whispered, "The Prophecy!" she stares at everyone, "Where's Elle, find her now."

Hans spoke, "What's the matter Trisha?"

"I just got a bad feeling, things will turn out different around here from now on." she said.

Somewhere from the kingdom, "Nobody can stop the prophecy from happening, we are here to make this happen, right young prince?"

"As it was prophesied, so it shall be done." the Fairy Prince declared as he was watching both Elle and Justin from afar.

He suddenly appeared in front of Elle making her gasp in shocked, "Y-you..." but without letting her finish he put her to sleep. "This is not the right time for everyone to know. Evie take him to his room," he said as he also carry her in bridal style. "It's time for you to leave the past and move forward, My Love." and they vanish from the place.
