It was the day of the party, despite the fact she was leaving after she still hadn’t been looking forward to the evening. A bunch of wolves from the pack pretending to know her and feel sad she was leaving it was truly a joke but Gatlin stuck to Arro’s side for the evening she followed him so much it was as if he had developed a shadow. she didn’t want to be there in the first place so sticking to her only friend seemed like the best option. Gatlin had seen her family already exchanged pleasantries as though everything was fine it was awful but she was used to it. As the night grew on Gatlin couldn’t wait for it to be over though she appreciated how Edda had acted as a proud mother for the evening it was tiring keeping up appearance. “Can I speak to you?” hearing Onyx was in no way a surprise. She could sense him, smell him before he was there. “Sure” Gatlin gave a curt nod even if it was Onyx she was thankful to be away from the crowd. Arro cast her a glance by now they had been able to exchange words even in glances and with the corner of her mouth giving a slight smile, he knew she was true to her word and didn’t interfere anymore as Onyx guided her away. Gatlin let Onyx lead her through the crowd he rarely spoke to her openly and it received a few strange glances but nothing more. She caught Edda noticing and the woman had a smile as though hopeful her son finally was giving in to the bond however it was in neither of their interests to give each other the chance of being mates. The two remained quiet as he leads her to the back garden the same place she found once before at the last party at the Alpha’s home but Gatlin didn’t mind she enjoyed the spot “what did you want to talk about?” she questioned as she simply made her way over the bushes of flowers that ran the length of the garden edge to the stone path. “I wanted to see how you are,” He asked stepping to the spot beside her. The pull was there as it always was but it wasn’t strong perhaps their distance had come in some use for the Unwanted predicament they were in. “Aside from this party?” she chuckled “I’m only here for your mother, she’s a wonderful lady you’re lucky to have her” Gatlin’s words were true of his luck but she couldn’t help the envy that seemed to leak out in her tone. “I know but I didn’t come here to talk about my mother. I wanted to check on you” he insisted if it was anyone else perhaps she would have questioned the reasons for his concern but she knew it was their bond. didn’t matter how weak it was they still had a strange attachment towards one another which instilled that worry for each other. “I’m fine, I’m happy” She game him a genuine smile “no offence I know this is your pack but it’s never been home to me, Onyx. Getting to go and do what I want it’s exciting” she gushed. There was a sadness in Onyx’s eyes but he was quick to hide it and instead gave her a smile in return though with their proximity it was pointless trying to hide his feelings “I’m happy for you. I’m sorry for trying to derail things for you as well it was selfish... I’ve been acting selfishly these past few weeks. You were right about us making our choices” he kept his smile as he looked at her not daring to reach out and touch though the temptation was there “I give you my word we will figure this out” she returned his smile but wondered why they were put together despite the pull between them nothing brought them together almost as though someone looked upon their plans and wanted to use them as some sort of cosmic joke. “Are you going to have your official ceremony after I leave?” Gatlin couldn’t help but ask werewolves were usually impatient and impulsive the celebration for his and Eliza’s ceremony was already done and with anyone else, it would have happened by now yet here they were. “I still have young wolves to train yet. Not everyone graduated as fast as you” he gave a Sly grin “so in time...” there was a sudden hesitation when his eyebrows suddenly frowned but he seemed to dismiss whatever he was thinking “it will happen when we are ready.” “What about her? I mean she would know you two aren’t mates... What will you do when her mate shows up?” Gatlin couldn’t help but ask. “When and if they show up I suppose we will deal with it then...” Onyx shrugged. “What if she chooses the bond?” “Then she chooses the bond, I can’t control her choices” he replied his eyes staring out to the garden before them. “like you were trying to control mine?” Gatlin couldn't help but tease a smirk across her plump lips. “Hey I said I was sorry” and she couldn't help but laugh the was he responded almost childlike. “Its okay, Onyx... “ she shifted her gaze to watch as he turned to face her. Easily standing over her with his large muscular form. Gatlin examined his well-sculpted features with a fond smile she was okay with it, okay with there choices, perhaps in another world thing were different and maybe some would think they were crazy for defying what they were given but there was a sense of something between them the lust and longing that was at the beginning wasn't there anymore perhaps that would change if they had touched but something they wouldn't risk so now a sort of mutual respect and there was finally a sort of comfortable sense between them. “I better head back... Find Eliza. I will see you back in there” with his friendly smile he returned to the party leaving Gatlin alone amongst the flowers.
