"Looks like your not the only one in trouble with the Alpha now" Jaxon chuckled but there was no amusement in it just a dry chuckle breaking the silence as he continued on his hand while Gatlin watched on. His knuckles were already misshapen from what she assumed was years of fighting despite their quick healing some wounds never heal properly and his bulging, bloated knuckles were one of them. "Marks..." she let out an exasperated breath before stepping closer to him till she stood by the sink basin. His brow furrowed in concentration she had never seen him quite so serious "seriously what happened?" "What happened with y--" Jaxon sunk his teeth into his lower lip letting the perfect porcelains drag over the pink flesh attempting to avoid the small gash at the corner of his mouth "I'm supposed to be future Beta, apart of that is looking out for pack members even if that means having to put someone in their place" it was a brief explanation but enough for Gatlin to appreciate his words. Never in her life had she had anyone stick up for her the way Arro and now Jaxon had done. Gatlin had never really been close to anyone but when she moved she could sincerely say she would miss them "what happened wasn't okay... I know you don't want this whole mate thing either just like him so to do that..." shaking his head before tossing the cloth he was using on his wounded hand into the sink "it wasn't okay." "Jaxon" the sound of his name from her caught him off guard. Quickly turning to face the she-wolf a clear look of surprise on his face. "You just called me Jaxon" he felt need to point out. She averted her gaze for a moment thinking. "Thank you" Gatlin leaned up to face him. Jaxon's dark eyes followed her every movement the way she got closer to the pucker of her plump lips, then gently touching his cheek where the stubble tickled her skin before finally pulling away "you're going to make a great Beta." He scoffed, eyes falling back to his injured hand "we will see if I become Beta now." "What?" "Look what happened to you, Pryce a sheer thought that someone attacked the baby of the Alpha family they came running to put you on trial. What do you think is going to happen to me?" another unamused chuckle left his lips. "No--" "I will take the risk. What I did felt... It felt like the right thing to do. I've always been a screw-up, Pryce but if something happens at least I can say I did something good for a pretty girl" he joked but the obvious worry was in his seemingly deep pools of chocolatey brown eyes. "I'll take care of this" was all she said suddenly rushing to the door. "What does that mean?" He called after her. "I will take care of it!" She called back to him before rushing out and on the hunt for her estranged mate. ::: It wasn’t hard to find him, finding Onyx for Gatlin was like a dog finding its bone. She could be blind and still find him, not just because of her expertise in tracking but also their connection it may as well have an internal GPS for one another. Gatlin thanked the goddess he was alone once she found him. By the edge of the woods staring off into the trees her mate stood, strong arms resting by his sides obviously in deep thought but Gatlin didn’t care, she didn’t come to check on him merely to speak to him “Onyx, we need to talk” she spoke abruptly as soon as she neared the young head warrior. “I know, I know, Gatlin. We have a lot to talk about... I’ve told me I’m sorry about what happened—“ “Not about me” Gatlin snapped and Onyx turned to face her suddenly. She had the complete attention of the silver eyes. “Than what?” He questioned. Onyx still looked pretty beaten up the injuries she had given her had healed somewhat but the ones from Jaxon were still fresh on his usually flawless skin. “Marks!” She exclaimed “Jaxon Marks, I know what happened but please, Onyx doesn’t report him to your family he could lose out on becoming the Beta for this pack” Gatlin couldn’t help but plead Jaxon’s case and her defending another male it was quite obvious it wasn’t something Onyx was enjoying hearing. “Relax, Gatlin” he sighed “I’m not reporting him to my family. I had it coming, though I thought it would be Arro who did it but still” he gave a half-hearted smile “so don’t worry Jaxon still will have his Beta position.” “Oh, good” Gatlin suddenly relaxed at the news. “Why do you care so much what happens with Jaxon? Is...” Onyx was suddenly frowning and his body stiffened “is something going on with you two?” Gatlin couldn’t help but laughed at his question “You don’t have the right to ask that sort of question, Onyx. Whatever I do with anyone else has nothing to do with you. We’ve made our decisions let’s just stick to them.” Onyx seemed hesitant at her words but reluctantly nodded his head “as you wish” he quickly surrendered the guilt of what happened was written all over him and Onyx didn’t want to rock the boat any further than he already did. “Onyx, thank you for not turning in Jaxon” as she turned to walk away he didn’t stop her though he wanted to. This time Onyx let her go.
