Aurora's POV
I kept mute the entire drive to the hospital. The air was heavy, suffocating. Unlike the usual taunts from the twins, there was only silence—a dangerous, unsettling silence. One wrong move and I had no doubt a bullet plugged into me would be my fate.
The car rolled to a stop in front of the hospital, and my breath hitched at the sight before me.
Doctors, nurses, staff—everyone—stood outside, heads bowed, bodies stiff with fear.
My stomach twisted into a knot as I spotted the doctor I had run out on, kneeling in the dirt, his hands trembling.
"W—what are they all doing outside?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
No answer.
Nevio stepped out first, slamming the door shut behind him. Nestore followed, his presence like a shadow creeping over the trembling staff.
