The hunt went well and we were able to capture a few bears, deer, and others that had come from the wild.
This was not simply a preparation for the winter. This was a way of training young werewolves that had just shifted and those who were still incapable of handling their wolves.
Even though Zeke refused to let me join, I followed them nonetheless.
Considering I've already turned twenty last month and still can't shift worries me.
Normally, girls at the age of eighteen can already do it but I don't know why I'm the only one different.
There was also the fact that my wolf hadn't talked to me yet.
When we made it back to the pack, I saw some people already waiting up ahead. Probably people who were left behind to guard the pack and family members who were expecting the return of their young ones.
My attention went to a little kid who was calling my name as he went towards my way.
“Arah! (Farah!)" He called out my name with a huge smile on his face. He raised his two arms in front of me.
“June!" I gleefully lifted him. “I've missed you little one.", squeezing him tightly into my arms
“Arah, I mijj you joo. ( Farah, I miss you too.)" He replied.
I immediately released him from the cuddle and stretched his mouth open. “Where's your teeth?"
“Righ here. (Right here). "
“Right where?"
“Righ here. (Right here.)" pointing to the other teeth on the sides.
“Oh, right here. What about the hole at the front?" Teasing him about his three missing teeth.
“My name's Farah not Arah. It's miss not mijj and it's right not righ."
“I know, Arah!" He sulked.
“What? hmm?" Still teasing him.
I stopped when I saw tears that were building up in his eyes.
Panicked, I put him down on the ground and wiped it as I cheered him up, “I'm kidding. You took me too seriously. You will get them back in no time, don't worry." I reassured him.
“Now, now." I continually stroke his back trying to calm him down.
I'm dead once Yvonne found out about—
My eyes then followed a pair of feet approaching behind June.
Just great!
“Fa—rah." A blonde-haired, blue-eyed gal scowls with her arms crossed.
“Y-Yvonne! My best friend!" I hugged her excitedly. I let go when she refused to return the hug.
Yup. She's mad.
“Y-You've misunderstood. I wasn't teasing Ju—look, look. He's smiling. He's smiling!" I lift the corners of June's mouth.
“I am not mad about that. You promised you wouldn't go! You can't even shift and yet you still dare to hunt?!"
“Well, I thought I would finally shift if I was in trouble but I haven't gotten the chance since everyone was also aiming for that." I moped.
“I've told you that you just need some time. You don't need to risk your life just to let your wolf out. I was worried sick!" her face was still painted with deep concern.
I reach out for her hand “I'm sorry, I shouldn't have escaped. I was wrong."
“This time, I swear not to break any of my promises again, okay?" Trying to put her at ease.
“Yvonne, you shouldn't worry yourself too much. Even if she can't shift, she's still stronger than us when it comes to human combat." He clung his other arm around Yvonne who in return growled at him.
Raul quickly removed his arm. He showed his palms as he obeyed not to touch her. “I-I was just saying, she's already at the right age to make her own decisions. She must learn to walk on her own feet."
“She's strong you know." He defended.
Yvonne let out a sigh.
“You're right..."
She turned to face me “Sometimes, I should just trust you more. It's not like I'll always be there with you." She placed her other hand on top of my hand that held her.
If I were to describe Yvonne Rune-Ewing. She was both a mother and a sister to me. A person whom I admired and respected besides Zeke.
Yvonne just turned twenty-three last week and she is the next fellow wolf who accepted me wholeheartedly.
I was happy for her when she told me she found her mate in the same pack. She was anxious that she had to fight him if they were on opposing sides.
The man beside her was indeed her mate, Raul Ewing. The four-year-old kid in front of me was their cute pup, June.
After a small gathering at the pack, I found myself looking for Zeke whom I hadn't seen since we'd returned together from the hunt.
Others who were part of the main fighters of our pack didn't stay long before too.
I think they were all together with Zeke.
I searched all places like training grounds, meeting rooms, and anywhere I was guessing they could have been.
Even though it's nothing new since they were normally like this, I still get the feeling that there is something that Zeke's been hiding.
It was midafternoon when Zeke and the others came back.
They weren't hurt or anything but they seemed kinda tired and looked like they'd been out in a fight.
All of them haven't spoken a word since they've returned. It's already been a few days since they've started acting this way.
