Chapter 13-Now that makes sense

756 Words
Silver I rush from the hospital room and text James, asking where he was and he lets me know they are in the archives of the hospital. I get directions from the nurse and rush down the stairs to the basement. “James.” I call out and he pokes his head out from one of the room down an excessively long corridor. “Silver?” He looks me over and something about my expression catches his attention. “What?” “I think I have an idea of who Rayne’s mother is, or a portion of the story.” I put my hands on my hips and James looks at me waiting. “That’s his get on with it face in case you didn’t know.” Chloe calls out from inside the room. I laugh. “Yeah I know. Ok so listen after you two left Stone asked if there was anything else Melody could remember, she said that she knew it had been an arranged union, that this Sarah girl was from the north, a pack near the Mountains.” I stare at James who stares back and shrugs. I sigh. “You’re supposed to be the Alpha with the best researchers in their pack.” Chloe steps out eyes wide. I point at her. “She got it!” She turns to James. “A pack from the North, near the Mountains,” We both wait and when James still does not react Chloe curses under her breath. “Near the Mountains, near the Royal family.” Now his eyes go wide and he glances between the two of us before pushing past us. We both follow as he exits the hospital, straight across the field to the cabin he occupies and over to his duffel bag pulling out a massive leather bound book. “What the hell is that?” I ask Chloe smiles. “That is the lineage of the Royals.” I watch as James flips page after page finally stopping, his finger gliding down the page before it stops and he seems to freeze in place. I glance over his shoulder but understand little. Chloe does the same and she gasps. I frown and look again but still nothing and I sigh. “Can someone explain to the slow Alpha?” Chloe smiles but defers to James who turns the book to me and starts at the top. “Few centuries ago we had the Royals, pure blooded , the rarely mated outside of their own gene pool,” I make a face . “Yeah well they were convinced it kept them pure would reject a mate bond outside of the royal family.” I make another face and he chuckles. “But then one day a princess falls in love with her fated mate who isn’t royalty and she breaks off from them, as years pass more royals do the same, the bloodline gets thinned out for a lack of a better word until the Royal family barely has any pure blooded Royal wolves but lots of half blooded, three-quarter blooded and so on right down to,” He points to a name and I frown. “Saraphine Harper?” I look back up and James is starring at me and I feel like I am missing something vital so I reread the name a few times in my head about to relinquish my sanity when James’s finger covers up all but the S-a-r-a and it hits me. “Sarah… Saraphine Harper holy Moon goddess.” James nods. “Exactly, Rayne is a trifecta, one of the rarest wolves known to our kind.” “Trifecta?” I repeat. Chloe huffs. “Do Alphas know nothing?” I glance her way, and she shrugs. “She has Alpha blood, royal blood and shares a Sorodna Dua; trifecta.” “So she is rare.” I mumble “Rare and powerful.” James says closing the book, a solemn look comes over his features. “And word of her will get out if it hasn’t already after her show of power at the New Year’s eve .” I smile. “Good they won’t cross her.” I glance between James and Chloe and my smile slips. “Why isn’t that a good thing?” James sighs and sits down. “Because Silver, the Royals lineage has been dying out when they hear about Rayne, they will come for her and stop at nothing to get her.”
