Chapter 7

DANIELLA POV

“f**k!!! Lilain, you didn’t bother to wake me up.” I screamed as I jumped off the couch. I was so exhausted yesterday that I slept off on the couch and even forgot to set my alarm. I ran to the bathroom to shower, not bothering to hear Lilian's excuse. She was also just waking up and I knew we were both cooked.

“f**k f**k f**k, Lilian have you seen my shoe? The meeting is by 9:30 and it’s 8:45.” Rider is going to kill me bitchh!!!. I screamed while searching for my shoe.

“Your hill is in the living room. Have you forgotten where you crashed yesterday?” Lilian answered back while also rushing for work. We were both late for work.

I didn’t bother eating breakfast. I grabbed my bag and left the house in a rush. I couldn’t afford to miss the bus.

On getting to the bus station, I quickly entered the bus. If I was a minute late I wouldn’t have made it. I said a silent prayer and finally decided to check my phone for any important messages, especially from Rider. He specifically told me to be at the office by before 9 to prepare for the meeting, but I’m extremely late and I know he’s not going to listen to my excuse of waking up late.

Fuck can this bus move any faster!!. I checked my phone and the time was already 9am. Rider is going to cut my head off with his yelling.

Once I got off the bus, I ran to the office. On getting there, everyone was on edge and I didn’t need any shaman to tell me that it’s because of Rider. He wasn’t going to take my coming late very lightly.

“Daniella!!, why the f**k are you just coming now. I told you to be here on or before 9am and this is already 9:15.” Rider said angrily and I froze on the spot. I turned to face him, and I could literally see flames coming out from his head.

“I’m so sorry sir I had an issue early this morning but I tried my best to ensure I’m here before 9:30 sir.” I said with my head bowed low to show how sorry I am. I hoped he would buy the lie. And surprisingly he did.

“It’s fine Daniella, just go get the meeting room ready. Our clients would be here in ten minutes time and I want to believe the documents are intact and complete.” He said while rubbing his temples. It was so obvious he was tired and this meeting had put him on edge.

“Okay sir I’ll get to work right away and yes sir the documents needed for the meeting are intact.” I said and with that I left for the meeting room.

On my way, I met Taylor and he was with a friend. I was in a rush so I just greeted both of them and left for the meeting room.

In less than 10 minutes, I had gotten the meeting room ready and had ensured everything needed was intact. I placed the documents on each side of the table, for everyone that would be present. I was nervous but I knew I could pull this meeting off. Rider trusted me and I wouldn’t let him down, and I also needed to prove to my coworkers that I earned this job through my hardwork and determination and not sleeping around.

By the time I was done, one of my coworkers came to tell me that our client had arrived. I went outside to greet per custom.

Everyone that was going to attend the meeting with our client, was already outside. I sighted Taylor and his friend and I decided to stay beside him.

“Hope you’re ready for the meeting?You're going to do great Daniella, don't panic.” Taylor said without looking at me. I smiled at how thoughtful he was.

“Yes Taylor I am ready, and thanks for the encouragement. It really means a lot to me.” I replied and he smiled at me. I noticed his friends giving me a look I couldn’t comprehend but I didn’t bother paying attention to him. I had other things to worry about but maybe after the meeting I’ll ask Taylor about his friend.

Once Rider and Mr. Ronald, our client, had entered inside, we followed behind them and headed to the meeting room. Once everyone was sitted, Rider gave me heads up to start the meeting.

I commenced the meeting, and I was shaking with nervousness and fear. But I pushed the feelings aside and continued the meeting wholeheartedly.

During the meeting, Mr. Ronald asked some questions which I answered confidently. I explained how they’ll be able to benefit from our company, and how low our risk rate is.

I could see the pride in Rider's eyes and I couldn’t be more happier.

By the end of the meeting, Mr. Ronald was extremely impressed and signed the contract there and then.

“Miss. Winston I must say I’m very impressed by your presentation. I knew Mr. Brighton was known for recruiting the best but honestly you were really good.” Mr. Ronald said while smiling at me.

“Thank you sir, I appreciate your support.” I replied, smiling back at him. Words could not express how happy I am about the meeting.

“We’ll Miss Winston, judging from your fingers, you’re not taken. What do you say about going on a date with me to cheraton for brunch.” Mr. Ronald said while giving me a flirty smile.

The whole room went silent and I could feel someone shooting daggers from their eyes, and I knew it had to be Rider.

“Uhhm Sir, I don’t think __.”

“Mr. Ronald I don’t think part of the deal was going out with my secretary. If you have any other concerns or questions about the contract, you can reach out to me and I’ll get back to you. If there’s nothing for now, you’ll have to excuse me and my secretary. We have other places to go and you know how much I hate being late.” Rider said, cutting my conversation short and I’m glad he did. The air was already tensed and he dragged me out of there before Mr. Ronald could say anything else.

“So you wanted to go out with him huh because you sure didn’t look angry at the question.” Rider said to me as we were heading to his office. He looked pissed.

“Well Mr. Brighton I was about to decline his offer before you cut my conversation. And I don’t know why you’re being paranoid sir. If I decided to take his offer, it’s my private life and it’s not affecting my work or the company sir.” I said, his words pressed a button in me and I was so pissed. Was he indirectly calling me cheap? I didn’t want to listen to what he had to say and decided to leave his office. I don’t even know why I followed him here in the first place.

As I was about to leave his office, he dragged my hands with an inhuman speed. I was so shocked, and before I could react I was already pinned up against the wall. His reaction shocked me to the core.

“Mr. Brighton, uhhm Rider what are you doing?” I said fear written all over my body. I looked up to his face and saw his eyes had already turned to a darker shade of black. It didn’t look humanly possible and I gasped at the sight.

“Look here Daniella, you’re Mine and Mine alone. I won’t tolerate other guys looking at my property.”
