“They’re coming.” The caller’s voice in his earpiece was barely above a whisper.
Todd Road’s gray eyes scanned the list of names and link numbers on the white computer screen recessed into his work station. The glossy black desk, extended from the control board console, was covered in touch-screen buttons and indicators for sound and light levels in KZAP’s studio. His heart beat faster when his eyes locked on the caller’s name and the origin of the call.
Todd drew in a breath and held it, his chest tightening. It was him. Serial murderer Mike Sikes was calling his show again. And Elmore Watts said radio was dead back in ’22? What the hell did he know. In 2067, talk radio was once again the king of all media. (At least, according to Smith & Wesson, his principal sponsor.)
