19 After an hour of trying a few different shops without success, they stopped in front of a hair shop situated in a group of four storefronts bordering the coast highway with the name Happy Hair in large, red, block letters on a backlit sign above the front picture window. Through the window, Trudy saw two women standing behind black barber chairs, chatting amiably with two men as they cut their hair. The men looked interested in the conversation. With the buxom, Barbie Doll look of the two hair stylists, she could understand why. She hoped one of them was Fred, though neither of them looked like a Fred to her.
