Chapter 5:

"Well.....well... erm. I think...... We should..." I

had nothing relevant to say

"Or should we wait and put her in our prayers?"

"Yes!" I screamed, I wasn't supposed to but that

was better than calling the police

"And when exactly did she leave Mary Jane?"

Julissa sounded very suspicious

"Two, I mean four, no nine days ago" There was

sincerely no need to stutter

Julissa took a deep breath and stood up, why?

"Nine days is a long time Jane, don't you think?"

she walked closer to me

I said nothing, I just kept sobbing

"Well" she placed her hand on my shoulders

"Thank you for reaching out to me, I really

appreciate it, and I promise to pray for her, but

for now I have to go back to the board room"

I felt something off, she sounded like she didn't

care, and I could just sense that she didn't

believe me.

"Okay, here's my card, please do call" I handed

my card over to her and walked myself to the

door.

Just as I twisted the doorknob, she spoke up

again

"And let me be the first to know when you call

the police" There was a smile plastered on her

lips.

I nodded and walked out.

That wasn't how I planned for it to go, I now I

just felt very uncertain.

Nora's Pov:

"Okay, you'll stop at the next turn, across the

bookshop is Sunyun & co." Marcel pointed out

the window.

I found Marcel on the bus, he was more helpful

than a map, and friendlier than I ever imagined

any stranger to be.

"Thank you so much, Marcel" I just hope my

voice carried some of the gratitude in my

heart.

"It's no problem, I'm glad I could help" he

smiled back "Well that's your stop, I guess it's

goodbye for now"

The bus stopped.

"Thank you so much, Marcel, I'm super grateful

, I don't know how I would have found my way, I

really app......"

"okay okay, be on your way now" He laughed.

I stepped out of the bus and quickly ran across

the road

I turned and the bus still hadn't moved "Bye!" I

waved from across the road

I didn't hear what Marcel said but there was a

bright smile on his face.

I remembered the description correctly, but

now I couldn't call her, to tell her about my

arrival, I guess I'll have to find her office

myself.

"Good day sir" I greeted the man at the gate

"How may I help you ma'am" He answered, not

really paying much attention to me, he was so

focused on his phone

"I'm here to see Julissa George, she works as

head of personnel and she's expecting me"

There was a minute of awkward silence, he

was so focused on his phone.

I cleared my throat to get his attention again.

"Well young lady, this is the parking lot

extension, I'm only here to watch cars, I don't

know who you're looking for" His eyes were

fixed on me now

"Well, how can I get into the building?"

"You can go through the main get, it's at the fall

left" He pointed towards the direction of the

gate

"Thank you sir" I turned to leave but he stopped

me

"Or, you can go through this parking lot, just

keep your head straight, and you'll come out at

the main entrance" he pointed towards the

cars

"That's so kind of you, thank......" he focused his

attention back to his phone and completely

ignored what I was saying.

I walked gently into the parking lot. It got darker

and darker as I walked and I thought to myself,

how many staff do they have? So much so

they need a parking lot extension. It had so

many cars.

Even though I was tired, I was relieved, the joy

in my heart knew no bounds, finally, I was

going to be free

"You there!" I heard a deep masculine voice

"The little chicken walked right into us" Three

men appeared from a black truck in front of

me, all dressed in black.

My heart sank to the deepest part of my

stomach, who could they be?

"You're Nora right?" One of them asked

I couldn't answer the question, not because I

wanted to lie or be rude, but because my

words were stuck in my throat, I couldn't utter

a word, literally!

They walked closer slowly, and I matched their

pace taking steps backwards as they came

forward.

I tried to figure out the place, my eyes

wandered through the space, and from a

distance, I saw the devil, Aunty Mary Jane.

Once again, my adrenaline took control, I took

off, I didn't wait one second, I was too scared

to.

At that moment I prayed one of them was with

a gun, I prayed for them to shoot at me and rip

me of my sorrow.

"Stop there!" I heard the masculine voice again

I wasn't a runner but the cars made it easy for

me to make zig-zags

"Catch her!" I heard the devil's voice

"How big is this f*****g parking space" I cried

to myself

I could feel my heart pounding against my

chest, and there was a sharp pain in my

abdomen, but I didn't stop, my legs didn't stop.

"Hey stop!" I heard another voice, a familiar

voice.

I dared to turn around and I saw the security

man, immediately I fell and continued my

escape by crawling.

Everything became blurry, my body got heavier

with the next step. I don't know why I looked

down, but the sight of the blood that trailed

behind me made me even weaker.

"How did I cut myself?" I breathed

Maxwell's POV:

"Sir your next meeting is by 2 pm, do you want

me to cancel it?" my secretary kept talking,

even after I told her to shut her mouth

"Cancel everything, I'm done for the day!"

I hate this type of feeling, I hate it when my

father is right.

Sunyun & co, just wasted three good hours of

my day, if I had just listened to my father and

my board of directors, I wouldn't have come

for this stupid meeting.

"Sir should I...."

"Shut up Florence!" I yelled in anger "I just got

rejected by people who were supposed to help

us get the Federal Government project" I

needed to pour my anger out to someone and

she presented herself

"I shouldn't be here right now, but I'm here, only

for their board of directors to outrightly reject

and condemn a proposal I spent hours

drafting! And you're standing here asking me

stupid questions like you didn't hear me when I

told you to shut up the first time" My anger

kept rising

"I'm sorry sir" Florence said in a small voice

"I gave my keys to the security man over there,

you get them, I'll be waiting in the parking lot

extension" I took a deep breath

I needed it, I was just so agitated, and the

board members were unnecessarily rude to

me.

"Woah!" I quickly dodged a reckless black truck,

that almost ran into me

"What are these guys drinking these days?" I

looked over at the truck in confusion.

I returned my gaze towards my car but then I

noticed something on the floor, I wasn't sure at

first, but I followed the trail of the liquid ripples

on the floor.

I yanked out my phone and put on my

flashlight, it became clear to me, blood.

I followed the trail that surprisingly led to my

car, lo and behold, right in front of my car, I

saw a feminine figure in the pool of her own

blood.
