King Rodrick’s pov
I look up at Alasiah after I tell Ezra I’d get him a room, and I feel worried. The tone of King Druins letter to me sounded accusing and mad. Worried I turn around speaking, “Alasiah, I’d like to ask a huge favor of you.”.
“Yes Rodrick, what is it?”.
“I’d like for you to go deep into the Gerkie mountains, south of the tallest peak. I have friends there that might be able to help with the mysterious killings.”.
She stares at me, “Sir, you know it takes about four days of traveling to get there. Plus, I will need to get things packed for the journey. Which will take about half a day. Who are these friends of yours, and what will I need to do?”.
I smile thinking about my friends Antono and Naydia. I met them while going to a neighboring kingdom with my father. I’ve known them since I was 14. I’ve just had my 25th birthday.
“Well, Antono and Naydia are great friends of mine I used to visit them when I’d go to Province of Skkynew with my father. All you would have to do is tell them what’s going on and the I need there help and for you to accompany them on the trip back if they decide to help us.”.
“Okay, I can do that for you.” I look at him funny and also ask, “Why did you ask Ezra if he knew how to use any weapons?”.
“Because. I want him to accompany you. I don’t think you should go by yourself, just because you have abilities doesn’t mean I don’t fear for you.”.
Alasiah walks up behind me and puts her elbows on my shoulders and goes, “Awwwww, you care about me,” then turns around swiftly, and speaks under her breath. Making her spirit tattoos glow all over her body, while making the curtains fling closed, and the furniture fly across the room, making a fire in the fireplace, “But I don’t need help.”.
“Fine I get it, okay! You don’t have to take him,” I turn to look at her and secretly I wanted to kiss her.
Alasiah and I have been friends since she came here seeking refuge a year and a half ago. She had lost her whole coven thanks to an angry mob of vampires who were trying to make an alliance with them. She had told me about how one of the young men in the group had tried to take advantage of a young girl in the village. An argument broke out. All of the vampires went crazy over the accusation, and they started draining the life out of all of her family members and hurting the woman and girls and taking them back to their caves in the mountain. Luckily she’d been spared because she ran into the woods as far and as fast as she could. She’d been in those woods for a month before she’d stumbled into our city. As soon as I had seen her, I asked her what I could do to help her. Why I don’t know, she had looked like any other begger on the streets. I just felt drawn to her as soon as I laid my eyes on her. Despite her disheveled appearance with dried blood and dirt on her exposed skin, leaves in her hair, and torn dress, she was beautiful. There are things that happened that she still doesn’t talk to anyone about , not even to me.
“ I’ll go get my stuff ready, and I’ll rest for the night. I’ll want my horse ready early in the morning after the sun rises,” she looks at me with her light hazel brown eyes that are speckled with greens and blues, and gives me a stern look.
“I’ll let the care taker know as soon as I finish speaking to Ezra. And thank you again Alasiah! I really appreciate it and all you’ve done!”
“I’m only doing this because you took me in and helped me get better and you’re my friend. I want to help in any way I can to try and pay you back for what youve done for me!”. She grabs the map I got from one of my bookshelf’s and starts walking away.
“Hey, when you’re going to your room down the hall, can you tell Ezra to come to my study please?”.
As she’s walking towards the door to the hallway she says “ Of course your majesty,” while not looking back at me the whole time.
