I go downstairs to drink water, and when I get to the doorway, I find myself face to face with Mr Henderson. I assumed that they left together.
He is topless, with a towel on his shoulder, his black hair is wet and he is drinking a smoothie. He is facing the kitchen entrance.
My eyes widen and my legs turn into mush.
He puts the cup on the counter, and then he chuckles.
“Well, Zara. I haven’t seen you in a while. Are you back?”
“Yes sir, I’m back.” I play along, trying to keep my voice steady.
“To seduce me again?” He grins.
“No, sir.” I violently shake my head.
He walks over to me, and I can’t avert my gaze from his six-pack.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about the kiss. Right now, when I look at your lips, my mind goes crazy.” He looks down at me.
I look back at him, my heart beats faster, and I know that I really, really want to kiss him.
He leans closer. I stand on my tiptoes and close my eyes. I feel the fireworks again, as his lips and his tongue caresses my lips. I don’t want to stop!
He breaks the kiss. “I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
I hold his hand. He stares at me, and I wonder what his hazel eyes are hiding. Then he looks away.
“I have to go, Miss Acres.” He says in the most formal way.
“I fell in love with you the moment I saw you. Please, I need you.” I decide to use the opportunity while things are still heated between us. If I don’t do this right now, I might be broke, homeless and jobless. My angelic inner voice is not pleased.
He kisses me with more hunger than before.
He caresses my back, and I feel shivers on my spine. He takes off my silky pyjama shirt, exposing my breasts. My whole body lights up. It's not about Inaya anymore, my body wants him.
He lifts me up, and I wrap my legs around his waist. His hands traces my thighs, and it feels like magic. I place my arms around his neck, then I just let myself go. I lose myself as I feel every part of my body respond to the kiss on my neck. I moan.
He carries me to the bedroom that I sleep in. He lets me fall on the bed, and I giggle. I notice a suppressed smile, and he pulls down my silky shorts. His tongue circles my breasts, and my moans get louder.
He kisses my lips, and then he balances his arms on my sides. I feel the bulging under his shorts. I moan while we kiss, I instinctively hold on to his back, and he groans.
“I got you!” A voice puts everything to a stop.
We both freeze. My heart is still beating fast as I try to catch my breath. I put a towel around my body and stay in bed. This is a compromising position for your boss to see you in.
“I got enough pictures and videos. Those hackers of yours won’t get away with it this time.” She holds up her phone.
“No! Inaya, don’t be cold-hearted.” He hisses.
“I’m cold hearted? You have never touched me since we got married. Certainly not like that.” She points at me. “I should at least get something out of this marriage.”
“You never wanted me to touch you!” He walks out, and Inaya follows him. Their shouts get louder.
I take my bags, and I text Nalo, pleading with him to fetch me. He responds immediately.
“What happened?” He asks as he puts bags in a trunk.
“There are things in there that I don’t want to be part of.”
“Did you do it?” He gives me a wide grin.
“Yeah, the proudest moment of my life.” I sigh.
“You will be fine. You’ll see.” He squeezes my hand a little.
We go to his apartment, I leave my bags and I prepare to go to work. I promise him to look for a place to stay later.
Inaya arrives at work after lunch, and she calls me to her office.
“So, you did it?” I notice her tinted smile.
“I really apologise. It wasn’t my intention...”
“No, that’s what I wanted. Where do you stay now?” She motions for me to take a seat.
“I’m going to look for a place to stay this evening.”
“Where are your bags?”
“I gave them to Nalo to hold them temporarily.”
She raises her eyebrows, and I’m confused as to what I did wrong. She probably thinks that I'm talking advantage of her driver. “I’m looking for a place. I promise.”
“I will book a hotel for you for the next five days, and then you will get all your money by tonight. It has already been processed.”
“Thank you.” I can’t help but feel like I did something wrong.
“No, thank you. I have evidence to take to court, but you don’t seem happy.”
“What do you mean by court? I thought that you wanted me to make him fall in love with me.” I raise my voice.
She responds with a scowl, and I shrink.
“You thought that you had a potential to make him fall for you? No, sweetheart, I was looking for temporary lust.”
When I knock off, I ask Nalo Johnson to bring my bags. I put them in the trunk of my dusty car. I should’ve checked up on my car more often, but I left it in this parking lot at work to collect dust.
I drive to the hotel, impatient to get to my room and to fall asleep.
I take my bags out of the trunk, and as pick up one bag, I notice hands picking two of my bags up. I slowly look up, and he is looking at me with a wide grin.
“I couldn’t stand being away from you. I just had to see you,” Mr Henderson says.
What is happening? I smile back, but my heartbeat is pointing out what I'm afraid to admit. I feel like I am being stalked, and it is freaking me out.
“Where is your room?” He asks casually.
“Uh, it’s fine Mr Henderson. I can take them up to my room.”
“But I want to see where your room is. We are a couple. Remember?”
“We are?” The pitch of my voice gets high.
“I thought that you were in love with me. You said so yourself.” He says innocently.
I nod. How do I get out of this?
“Then why do you act surprised?” He raises an eyebrow.
“I thought that I was the only one. I am in love with you so much. I was willing to settle for unrequited love.”
“You don’t have to worry about that. I’m head over heels, and I will spend every free moment of my time with you.” He smiles.
I check in, and we carry the bags to my room.
“You don’t have to stay in a hotel. You can move in with me. Inaya will be moving out soon.” He says when we get to the room.
“I will find an apartment. I think we are moving a little too fast.” I shift on the ridiculously huge couch that we are sitting on.
“Just think about it. I would appreciate it if you said yes.”
My tears flow, and I find myself unable to hold back. Few weeks ago I was excited to work at Pearson-Henderson and associates. Working at Inaya’s firm had always been a dream for me. Then now, here I am in a web of lies that I can’t get out of.
“What’s wrong?”
“Tears of joy. I’m very happy to have found someone like you.” I sniff.
He gets me a bottle of water from the mini fridge.
“Are you okay?” He asks when I have cooled down.
“Yes, just tired, but I’m really ok.”
“I can massage your feet.” He lifts one of my legs and puts it on his thigh.
“No! I mean, I’m fine. I just need to sleep.”
“Okay, you should’ve just said so. I’ll leave. Please eat before you sleep. Don’t miss me too much.”
I smile in response.
Where are the fireworks that I felt for him before he acted crazy?
