After an hour of jumping, running, climbing, lifting, shifting and practising my rolls and flips I ran back to my shack house to get changed house once I had bathed in the lake. I quickly got dressed and hid my gear throughout my room.
I arrived at the pack house and immediately got started on breakfast for the pack, which consisted of boiled eggs, bacon, toast and sausages before going to clean the sitting room on the main floor.
Once the table was set I walked into the sitting room after the Alphas typical Friday night with a bin bag, the door swung open and in filed a large group from the pack.
They sat down with a chorus if grunts and sighs when they saw the food I had prepared. I hurriedly collected all of the aluminium cans and glass bottles. I then, cleaned the windows, swept the floor, fluffed the pillows and straightened the China in the display case.
And that's when I heard him. The door slammed open and shut so hard I felt the floor vibrate. All the men bowed their heads immediately as a sign of respect and submission. "Alpha Reece" they all greeted in unison.
"DANI!" he shouted. I shot into the room almost losing my balance. "Yes, sir?" I asked steadying myself. "You have to mind the pups today, am I clear?" "Yes, sir. Should I prepare a meal now or will they be arriving later?" I asked unsure.
"Yes, make something soon but DON'T you go having any, you know the rules and the consequences of breaking them!" he warned. I finished the sitting room, leaving it spotless and went to start preparing a meal for the pups. I was half way through when the men finished their breakfast and filed out of the room. Some left to take care of their responsibilities and the rest followed their Alpha to his office to discuss some business.
I finished cooking breakfast for the pups just as the doorbell rang. I set down the plates and strolled down stairs to answer it. I opened the door as was immediately attacked in a big hug by three pups, "Auntie Dani!" they all shouted excitedly.
My niece Aishling, and my two nephews Sean and Harry, they are triplets and are my brother Damians kids. Their mother Ash was pregnant when my brother died, the only reason her and her pups survived the death of her mate was Ash and Damian were potential mates not true mates.
This means the bond isn't as strong, so she survived. Even though they weren't true mates, they loved each other to the ends of the earth and Damian loved his unborn pups. Ash was oblivious to the abuse I was receiving on a weekly basis from my father, younger brother and pack until last year when she got a glimpse of the scar on my left hip.
Most members of the pack never knew what really happened, because only the unmated men were allowed to attend their little ceremonies when they would all take part in my beating, lead by my father and brothers of course.
"Hey Ash" I gave her a small smile, which she returned with sad eyes when she saw me roughly yank down the sleeve of my jumper in an attempt to hide the new bruises on my arm and small scars from my latest attempt at self-harm.
Ever since she first saw one of my scars she has tried to get me to talk about it. I have told her bits and pieces but I have told her that I'm just not ready to dive into with anyone yet. Plus she already looks at me with so my worry, sadness and pity that it makes me think twice before telling her anything more.
She is the only female in the pack that is aware of what has been happening behind closed doors since the attack. As far as anyone else is concerned, they are under the impression that my father and brother keep me locked away for my safety because the rogues that's attacked us that night were looking for me.
They couldn't be more wrong.
