Chapter Ten Sara followed her aunt into the drawing room after they returned from their shopping. Very much like her aunt’s favorite drawing room at Darlington, the room was yellow, but the furniture here was much newer and not quite so haphazardly arranged. Blue brocade material covered classically Greek-styled chairs and sofas. The fireplace lay off to one side, seemingly forgotten amidst the interesting furniture. Neither Sara nor her aunt made use of the beautiful furniture today. Sara stayed close to the door, unsure of her welcome in her aunt’s presence. Lady Darlington wandered into the room out of habit. “Deanna, you’ve returned,” Lord Alton said, striding over to her. “Oh, Alton. Thank goodness you are here!” She rushed into his arms, heedless of anyone who might be watching.
