899 Words
Salome's eyes fluttered open, and she was met with an unfamiliar ceiling. She blinked rapidly, trying to clear the haze from her mind. Where was she? The room looked nothing like the hospital room she had just left. Panic set in as she scrambled out of bed, her heart racing. As she stumbled toward the mirror, she caught a glimpse of herself. She was young, vibrant, and full of life. Tears of wonder and gratitude streamed down her face as she realized she had been given a second chance. She stared at her reflection, taking in the details of her face. Her skin was smooth, her eyes bright, and her hair long and luscious. She looked like she had just stepped out of university, full of dreams and aspirations. Salome's mind reeled as she tried to process what was happening. She had died, and yet, here she was, alive and young again. The memories of her past life still lingered, but they felt distant, like a dream she was trying to hold onto. With a newfound sense of determination, Salome began to piece together her life. She would find Jeremiah, and this time, she wouldn't let him slip away. She would make sure he knew how much she loved him, and she would fight for their happiness together. As she turned away from the mirror, Salome noticed a calendar on the wall. The date caught her attention – it was the first day of the new semester at Riverdale University. A smile spread across her face as she realized she had been given a second chance to relive her university days, and to rewrite her story with Jeremiah's. ************ Salome's eyes sparkled with determination as she began to get ready for her first day back at Riverdale University. She had a plan, and she was determined to make the most of her second chance. As she dressed in her favorite outfit, she couldn't help but think about Jeremiah. She remembered the way he used to smile, the way his eyes crinkled at the corners, and the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck. She had loved him with all her heart, and she was determined to make him love her back. Salome took a deep breath, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. She knew that this time around, things would be different. She would make sure of it. With a newfound sense of confidence, Salome headed out the door, ready to take on the day and make the most of her second chance. She walked onto campus, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of the university. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the students were bustling about, chatting with friends and hurrying to class. As she walked through the quad, Salome's eyes scanned the crowds, searching for a glimpse of Jeremiah. She knew he would be around somewhere, and she couldn't wait to see him again. And then, suddenly, she saw him. He was standing by the library, his nose buried in a book, his glasses slipping down his nose. Salome's heart skipped a beat as she felt a rush of emotions. She took a deep breath, steadying herself, and began to make her way towards him. "Jeremiah," she whispered to herself, a smile spreading across her face. "I'm back." As Salome approached Jeremiah, she felt a mix of emotions. She had known him for years in her past life, but now, she realized that he didn't recognize her. He was absorbed in his book, oblivious to her presence. Salome cleared her throat to get his attention. "Excuse me," she said, trying to sound casual. Jeremiah looked up, his eyes locking onto hers. For a moment, they just stared at each other, Salome's heart pounding in her chest. She could see the curiosity in his eyes, but there was no recognition. "Hi," he said finally, his voice neutral. "Can I help you with something?" Salome smiled, feeling a little nervous. "No, I'm just... "I'm in your lecture class," she said, trying to sound nonchalant. "I saw you standing here and thought I'd say hello." Jeremiah's expression softened slightly, and he nodded. "Oh, okay. I'm Jeremiah." "I'm Salome," she replied, extending her hand. Jeremiah took her hand, his handshake firm but brief. "Nice to meet you, Salome." As they stood there, Salome couldn't help but notice the way Jeremiah's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. She felt a flutter in her chest, and she knew that she was in trouble. She was falling for him all over again. Over the next few days, Salome made it a point to sit next to Jeremiah in class, striking up conversations with him during breaks. She learned about his love for literature, his passion for social justice, and his dreams for the future. Jeremiah, on the other hand, seemed to be gradually warming up to Salome. He would smile at her in class, and occasionally, he would initiate conversations. As the days turned into weeks, Salome felt like she was getting to know Jeremiah in a new way. She was seeing him as a person, rather than just a memory from her past life. And as she got to know him better, she realized that her feelings for him were just as strong as they had been before. Maybe even stronger.
