The return of the lost man

The words on the paper seemed to burn into Elena's mind. I AM ALIVE. She stared at the message, unable to move. "Who wrote this?" she whispered. Adrian picked up the paper carefully, examining it. "I don't know." But Elena noticed something. For the first time, Adrian looked afraid. Not worried. Not angry. Afraid. "Adrian," she said softly, "you know something." He remained silent. "Tell me." He looked at her. "There are things about my family that I never understood. Things even I was kept away from." Elena stepped closer. "But you know who this person is." Adrian looked down. "His name was Daniel Vale." The room became silent. "Who is Daniel Vale?" Adrian swallowed. "My father's younger brother." Elena's eyes widened. "Your uncle?" "Yes." "What happened to him?" Adrian looked at the old records around them. "Fifteen years ago, he disappeared. Everyone believed he was gone forever." Elena looked at the message again. "But he's alive." Adrian nodded slowly. "And if he is the one who sent this, he wants us to know that he has been watching us." --- Later that evening, Elena sat in Adrian's car as they drove away from the Vale estate. She looked out the window. "Why didn't your family tell the world about him?" Adrian's hands tightened on the steering wheel. "Because the story they told everyone wasn't the truth." "What really happened?" Adrian hesitated. "My uncle discovered something about the Vale family business. Something dangerous." "And your father?" "He tried to stop him from revealing it." Elena turned toward him. "Are you saying your own family destroyed him?" Adrian didn't answer. But his silence said enough. --- At the same time, in a hidden office across the city, a man watched security footage of Elena and Adrian. Daniel Vale stood in the shadows. Fifteen years had changed him. But his eyes were the same. "The truth is finally coming out," he said. A woman beside him looked nervous. "Are you sure this is the right time?" Daniel smiled. "I waited fifteen years." He looked at a picture of Elena's mother. "Now everyone will learn what really happened." --- The next morning, Elena received a package. No sender. No address. Inside was an old diary. Her mother's diary. She opened the first page. A sentence immediately caught her attention: "Elena, if you ever meet Adrian Vale, remember this: he is not the enemy." Elena froze. Why would her mother tell her that? Then she turned the page. The next words made her heart stop. "Adrian's father was not responsible for what happened to me." Elena looked up. Everything she believed was changing. And somewhere in the city, Daniel Vale was preparing to reveal a truth that would break the Vale family forever.
