The room froze.
Every eye turned toward Inspector Naomi Reed.
She looked from the laptop to Oliver, then back to the screen.
"That's impossible," she said.
Marcus was already on his feet, instinctively placing himself between Tracy and the inspector.
"Nobody move."
Reed slowly raised her hands.
"If I were Phoenix, would I have walked into this room alone?"
Oliver didn't answer.
He couldn't ignore what was playing on the screen.
In the video, Naomi Reed smiled directly at the camera.
> "If you're seeing this, you've finally uncovered one of Phoenix's greatest tricks."
The recording continued.
> "My name is Naomi Reed... and if you're watching this version of me, it means my identity has been stolen."
The room fell silent.
The woman on the screen continued.
> "Phoenix uses deepfake technology and stolen identities to destroy anyone who gets too close. If this message has reached you, don't trust videos alone. Trust evidence."
The video ended.
Inspector Reed let out a slow breath.
"I recorded that six months ago."
Everyone stared at her.
"I was investigating Phoenix long before Ethan Brooks contacted me. We knew they were creating fake videos to frame innocent people."
Marcus examined the file.
"It's authentic," he said after checking the metadata. "It was created months before today's events."
Oliver lowered his guard.
"I'm sorry."
Reed shook her head.
"Don't apologize. Phoenix wanted exactly this—to make us turn on each other."
Before anyone could speak again, Edward Lancaster collapsed.
His cane clattered across the floor.
"Grandfather!" Oliver rushed to his side.
Edward's breathing was shallow.
With trembling hands, he pulled a folded piece of paper from his jacket and pressed it into Tracy's hand.
"I... don't have much time."
Tracy unfolded it.
It was an old map.
A single location had been circled in red.
Beneath it were four handwritten words:
"The truth sleeps here."
Edward looked at Oliver one last time.
"Go... before... Phoenix..."
His voice faded.
His eyes closed.
A medic checked for a pulse.
Then looked up.
"He's alive."
"But he's in a coma."
The only person who knew the full truth could no longer speak.
And the map was now their only lead.
