The forgotten Room

455 Words
The old Vale estate stood at the edge of the city, surrounded by tall trees and years of forgotten memories. Elena looked at the enormous mansion through the car window. "So this is where it all started?" Adrian nodded. "Yes." She noticed the sadness in his eyes. "You grew up here?" "Yes," he replied quietly. "But I never felt like I belonged here." Elena looked at him. "Why?" Adrian looked toward the mansion. "Because this house was full of secrets." --- Inside the estate, every hallway carried a piece of the past. Old portraits covered the walls. Family names were carved into wooden frames. But Elena felt something strange. As if the house itself was hiding something. Adrian led her upstairs. "There was a room my father never allowed anyone to enter." "Why?" "He said some memories were better left untouched." Elena looked at the locked door at the end of the hallway. "That one?" Adrian nodded. --- After searching through old keys, Adrian finally found one that fit. The door opened with a quiet click. Dust filled the air. Inside was a small room filled with boxes, old documents, and photographs. Elena walked slowly around. Then she stopped. On the wall was a picture. Her mother. Standing beside Adrian's father. And beside them was a young Daniel Vale. Elena stared. "My mother was part of this family." Adrian looked at the picture. "Apparently, she was more involved than anyone told me." --- They searched through the boxes. Inside one was a small wooden container with a silver lock. Elena recognized the design. The same symbol as her necklace. "Adrian..." He looked at her. "This is connected to me." She touched the box carefully. Before they could open it, they heard a sound. Someone was outside. Adrian immediately stepped in front of Elena. "Stay behind me." The door slowly opened. A man stood there. Older. Tired. But familiar. Elena looked at him in shock. Because she had seen his face before. In the picture. "Daniel Vale..." The man looked at Elena. For a moment, he said nothing. Then he whispered: "Your mother would be proud of you." Elena's eyes filled with questions. "Who are you really?" Daniel looked at Adrian. Then back at Elena. "I am the man who knows why your mother had to hide you." Silence filled the room. Adrian stepped forward. "Why did you disappear?" Daniel's expression became serious. "Because the person who betrayed us was someone none of us suspected." Elena held her breath. "Who?" Daniel looked toward the hallway. "Your enemy is closer than you think." Before he could say more, a loud crash came from downstairs. Someone had entered the mansion. And they were looking for the same secret.
