Chapter 15 Gregg

836 Words
Gregg woke up to an ear-splitting scream. He jumped out of his bed and flung open the door. He was in Misty’s room in a second. She was thrashing back and forth in the bed like she was fighting a demon. “Hey, shh, hey pretty girl. Hey come on, wake up. Misty, hey, wake up, it is a dream. It is just a bad dream. Come on.” Gregg pulled her towards him and was rubbing her back. She started to calm down. “Hey, it is ok, you are safe.” Misty started to cry. She wasn’t just crying, she was sobbing. Gregg could feel the tears running down her face and soaking into his shirt. “Hey, come on pretty girl, you are OK, I am here.” Misty pulled her head up from his chest, “Oh god, I am so sorry,” she said through the tears. “I can usually control this.” “You are OK,” Gregg pulled her head back to his chest and gently started petting her hair. “Today was a rough day. What can I do to help you?” “This is really embarrassing. I am so sorry.” She sounded like she was going to start crying again. God, his heart ached for this woman. He didn’t know what was going through her head, but he just wanted to help make it stop. “Like I said, don’t be. Now, tell me what I can do.” “I usually just get a shower and try to relax.” Gregg froze, the thought of her in the shower had his c**k twitching. No you asshole, he thought, you are not going to have a full-on b***r while she is like this. Tears were some people’s thing, but not his and these are not the kind of tears anyone got off to. “I understand, why don’t you go get a shower, and I will meet you just out the door in the den. We can put on a movie, or maybe some music and I can make one hell of a cup of hot chocolate.” He started to move away, but she grabbed the front of his shirt. “Please give me a few more minutes. This helps. I don’t know why, but it is.” He smiled down at her, “Whatever you need.” He pulled her closer to him and gently rubbed her back as her breathing started to even out and the tears slowly started to subside. He noticed she was only wearing the shirt he had given her and spotted the pants folded neatly on the foot of the bed. He was holding this woman while she cried in nothing but his shirt and maybe a pair of panties. Why was he thinking about her panties right now? He had to focus on something other than her panties. She raised her head up again, and he noticed just how beautiful her eyes were even if they were red from crying. Her lips were swollen from her biting them, probably trying to stop her from crying. “I really am sorry, I have had nightmares for as long as I can remember, they don’t happen often, but when they do, it sucks.” Gregg smiled gently down at her, “I see, are you feeling any better?” “Somewhat, yes. I guess I need to tell you thank you again.” She blushed a little under the tear stains on her cheeks. “It was my pleasure. Would you like to talk about it?” He wanted to know what exactly brought this on. “I guess it is the stress from tonight.” She sounded like she was going to start crying again. “What happened tonight is tomorrow's problem. Tonight, you need to get some rest.” He glanced at the clock on the table, and noted he had only gone to bed a few hours ago, and he knew that she had gone to bed shortly before he did. “What can I do to help?” Misty shook her head, “I can’t think of anything, you really have done so much already. I am sorry to have woken you up.” Gregg went to stand, and this time Misty let him. “I am right across the hall if you need anything.” When he walked back across the hall, he prayed that she would ask him to come back, but she didn’t need that right now. It took every ounce of willpower not to kiss her on the forehead before he left her. He wasn’t some zealot who would take advantage of a hurting person. He just knew that if he started, he could not stop. He slipped into his bed and looked up at the ceiling as the minutes ticked by. After forty-five minutes passed, he decided to go down to his office and work because he couldn’t sleep.
