CHAPTER 12: I HATE PERIODS

Classes this week have been so hectic, I wake up as early as 6:30AM, leave for class without taking anything and come back to my dorm by 4 o'clock and sometimes by 5pm. I barely even talk much with my friends because we have all been busy and when we are less busy it’s either we're doing an assignment or sleeping. No one told me college was this stressful. Finally, the weekend came, and we decided to have some fun. Steph suggested that we go watch some movies at Genesis Cinema and when we are done, we go eat pizza and ice cream at Spar. We all agreed to it, I haven’t licked Ice cream for a while now, and I surely needed a break from this room and school.

“I think we should check the movies they will be showing today online, and probably book a seat.

"Yeah, it’s the weekend, it might get filled up before we get there."

"Okay, this are the movies airing today “It, Black panther, Us, Super fly.."

“Super fly! Ella screamed. I want to watch that movie so bad. Let's go for it. What is it about? Vicky asked her.

"I haven’t watched it yet, but I have heard about it from a friend." Let’s go for it then I said. The outfit I picked out was just a plain floral print sweetheart dress I bought from Shein a couple of days ago.

"Are you wearing that to the Cinema?" Vicky asked Ella.

“Yes of course!” I turned to see what Ella was wearing, and she was putting on the Ruched cami top and split hem shirt she said she bought for the next party we were going to attend. Leave it to Ella to always overdress because of her, I spent my groceries' money on shipping plus I am slowly finding my style which is a good thing, so I can’t complain.

“Well if you are wearing that at least take a jacket with you, the front is quite exposed and what if they don’t allow us back in when we are coming back”. Stanford is quite strict with their dorm student dressing code. That's one thing I didn’t expect, though. After we were all done dressing up and of course them doing their full coverage makeup which I really do hope they don’t influence me soon, I just applied my lip gloss and mascara, and we were good to go to have fun. We took pictures at our balcony which is quite aesthetic and Vicky helped us edit it with Lightroom. She is so good at taking pictures and editing them, and she has quite a lot of followers on i********:.

We got to the Cinema quite late, and the movie we booked to watch Super fly was already ending,

“It’s because you guys were making up, that's why we came here late, '' I joked.

“So are you getting a refund or can we watch another movie? Steph asked the person attending to customers, he doesn’t seem to be interested in giving us back our money.

“If you can wait for fifteen minutes for the next movie to air, we apologize for the inconvenience, he said.” What movie is airing next?

“Acrimony,” He replied. I opened my phone to check out the movie online, two of my favorite actresses acted it, Taraji Henson and Ajiona Alexus.

“Let’s hang around while we wait for the next movie,” she pulled out her phone and started taking selfies, we all decided to join in and the next minute we were having a photo shoot at the cinema. Vicky sent me the pictures she helped to edit and the new ones we took her phone is filled with our pictures since she is the only one using the iPhone 13 pro max, her phone takes the best picture. Ella and I are both using the XS Max, while Steph is using the iPhone XR. I posted the picture on my i********:, then I remembered the messages Chris sent to me yesterday. He was asking me out on a date with him, of course I turned him down. Just because he helped me when I needed a place to stay doesn’t me I should be going out on dates with him.

People started coming out of the theater, guess the movie has ended we went back to the counter and the guy gave us pop corn and coke as refreshments, we went in happily.

The cold hit my legs immediately I sat down, the movie started, and I started eating my popcorn,

“Wow the popcorn here tastes so good like they poured milk and honey on it. Steph said, chewing loudly. I tried to ignore and focus on watching the movie. Taraji as Melinda is narrating the movie, “Acrimony”. I type into google to search for the meaning of it, “Anger and Bitterness.” I felt something cold touch my hands, someone spilled a drink on me.

“s**t” I heard as the splash of drinks touched my clothes, my new clothes I just ordered from Shein! I turned around to look at the culprit and behold it was Chris, What is Chris Hales doing here? How did he come in without me noticing? He was sitting at the back of me, trying to stop his coke from splashing everywhere. Our eyes met each other and my heart jumped, his green eyes staring into mine like he was surprised to see me.

“Sorry, he mouthed out. He has done his back, I stumbled into him at the party and his phone almost fell down now he splashed drinks on my clothes, we are even now. I take the time to admire how hot he looks in a plain white t-shirt and the ice chain on his neck and ears which were glittering, he always looks good.

Steph pinched me softly, I looked at her, and she was giving me that look like I see you girl. I tried so hard to hold my laugh as they all waved at him, while he waved awkwardly back. I went to the restroom to clean up when a notification came in from Mr. Poker, he sent a message saying he was sorry and the sad emoji.

“Its fine, I replied. Are you stalking me? I asked him.

“No! I am not!”

“Hmm… Okay” I checked the number of people that have liked my post and Chris has liked it with his fake account and even his real account. He must have seen I was watching a movie here and came over.

I went back, and I couldn’t find him again, he must have left. I hope it’s not because of what I said to him, my heart was pinching at me. I sat down and resumed watching the movie. Ella had already finished her popcorn and was eating mine.

“Did you see Chris, Vicky whispered into my ear” My cheeks turned red and I just shake my head.

The Acrimony is a sad movie, she died because of a man the ending was confusing I don’t know if he really died since she is the one narrating the story.

“Men! Be careful of men” Steph shouted and everyone started laughing in the room. The movie ended, and we all walked outside, I was already tired, but they still insisted on us going to drink ice cream and eat pizza.

My tummy was paining me I think it’s my period that’s about to come, I opened my Flo app and today is the day I am expecting it. Time for pain and suffering, I wasn’t in the mood again, so I told them I would be leaving first since I am expecting my period anytime soon, and I didn’t want to get caught unaware.

“Awwn, should I still get you the ice cream and pizza? Ella asked me.

“Yeah, and chocolates plus if you can walk into any pharmacy in the mall to help me to buy over-the-counter or felvin, I would cash app you.” They waited until I entered into the Uber before they left. They really fit each other, they love to have fun and party, while I wasn’t really the outdoor type.

Inside the Uber I was feeling moist down there, I don’t want to get stained that will be so embarrassing, though Ella gave me her jacket in case my period comes before I get to the dorm. I lifted one side of my butt up and cross my leg, I felt a sharp pain under my abdomen, I grasped.

“Are you okay? The Uber driver asked.

“Yes I am” I faked a smile.

The second I got into the room I pulled my clothes off and went straight to shower, my period already came, and luckily, I wasn’t stained. I felt nauseous, I hate seeing my period.
