Chapter 17 - A small cottage

"Welcome home princess" said Charles smiling as he put his hand infront of him gesturing for me to move forward.

There was a small little path to walk on and on both sides of the path were beautiful trees, bushes and flowers covered in snow.

The path made a small turn, I just stood still, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The path lead up to a small cottage.

Infront of the cottage looked like it could be a nice patch of grass with beautiful wild flowers.

The cottage had a grass roof, was built out of wood, had a small porch with a bench to sit on and had 2 big front facing windows. It also looked like it had a fire place inside as there was a chimney.

"Want to go inside?" Charles asked me.

I looked at him with wide eyes and shook my head yes.

He took my hand in his and he lead me to the front door which was positioned right in the middle of the cottage.

He opened the door and we walked inside.

I looked around me with wide eyes and couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"Is this cottage really ours?" I asked him.

He laughed and said "yes my princess, it's our home."

To the left side of the cottage was a lovely kitchen with plenty of cherry stained wooden cupboards and light grey counter tops. It had a stove, a fridge and by the window was a sink.

To the right side of the cottage was a small corner lounge set which fitted perfectly. There was a beige soft corner couch, a coffee table, a television stand and a television. In the other corner of the lounge there was a corner fireplace to keep us warm and cozy with a small book shelf. Against the other wall was a desk and a chair with a lamp.

Between the kitchen and lounge was a four seater small table with chairs.

In the middle were 2 doors. I opened the door on the right and it was a bathroom with a bath, shower, basin, toilet and a tall white standing cupboard.

I opened the left door and there was a double bed with light grey and blue bedding, 2 nightstands and a cupboard to pack clothes in. There was also a small glass sliding door which lead to a backyard and into the forest.

"You like it?" Charles asked me while I was in a complete daze.

"I love it!" I exclaimed, "it's perfect."

"I didn't do the decorating, I thought I would leave that to you" Charles said while scratching his head.

I smiled at his gesture.

"How did this happen?" I asked him as I sat down on the couch.

Charles sat down next to me and said, "well, when we first arrived and you were taken up into hospital, I told the alpha our story and he took us in. He showed me the cottage and I knew you would like it, he also arranged for some furniture for us and a bit of food."

"Wow that's nice of him." I said as I looked around once more and took everything in.

"Every pack member around here has to earn their keep." He told me quite seriously.

"What do I have to do?" I asked him with curiosity.

"Not much at the moment princess" He said laughing. "You still booked off sick for another week."

"So long?" I grumbled...

"Yes my princess, you are to stay in the cottage until you are fully healed." He said while caressing my cheek.

"What will you be doing?" I asked him.

"I'll be helping out with hunting, territorial patrols and teaching the young pups how to fight, but I can chose other things to help out with too such as gardening and harvesting. There are many activities to chose from." He told me with a kiss on my forehead.

"What can I do to help once I'm better?" I asked him.

"Anything you want to do princess, once you feel better we can go walk around and you can decide." He told me smiling.

I smiled back at him and put my head down on his shoulder as I was feeling a little tired.

"Why don't you go take a bath while I prepare us some dinner princess?" Charles asked.

"I can make dinner" I told him.

"Not the way you are feeling no" was his response as he pointed at the bathroom.

"I don't have any pajamas" I told him whining...

He gave a small laugh and told me to go look in the cupboard as he got up and walked into the kitchen.

I stood up and walked into the bedroom, opening the cupboard and was surprised with what I saw.

There were 3 sets of pajamas, along with 3 sets of other pairs of clothes and underwear.

I grabbed pajamas and a clean pair of underwear and went to the bathroom so I could get cleaned up.

Once I was all clean, I pulled the plug, dried myself and got dressed. I then hung up my towel and put on my slippers.

Opening the door, I smelt food was cooking. It smelt absolutely lovely and my mouth started watering.

"Anything I can help with?" I asked Charles as I walked over to the kitchen.

"Almost done princess, you can sit down." He told me.

He left the food on the stove after turning the nozzle a bit lower and walked outside.

I stood up and peered out the window, he was collecting firewood from a small shed that I didn't even see on my way in as it was hidden by a tree.

I quickly sat back down when I saw him heading back.

He came inside, closed the door and put the wood in the fireplace and lit it.

"That should warm this place up" He said while rubbing his hands together.

I smiled while watching him, for some reason, I truly felt like I was at home...
