The Orcs were known to be ferocious beings, a mere challenge in most zones, but in the Broken Zone, they were giants. Titans born from corrupted data. They appeared only when the fabric of this zone began to tear apart, rewriting itself in a desperate attempt to stabilize.
That fragment of land beneath Kyle and the Captain wasn’t just breaking; it was looping, shifting between the past and the future, the jungle and the wasteland. The System tried to repair it, but something, or someone, was overriding the process.
The two stood upon trembling ground, watching the horizon distort as massive silhouettes emerged through the glitching mist.
“They’re giants!?” Kyle exclaimed, his voice cracking between awe and disbelief as he gazed upward at the monstrous Orc towering above them.
“Is this guy seriously underestimating us!?” the Captain growled, his tone sharp with anger and pride, eyes locked on the creature that dared to look down on him.
“Well… how else can they look down on us?” Kyle replied dryly, realizing too late that more figures had surrounded them, a circle of towering beasts closing in with synchronized steps.
“I don’t care,” the Captain said coldly, lowering his stance and unsheathing his blade in one smooth motion. “After all… they aren’t the only enemies here.”
The air shifted all of a sudden. The wind fell silent. In an instant, Kyle and the Captain were seized by a powerful force, and the ground beneath them punched upward, racing toward the sky like an inverted explosion.
“What the hell is this?!” Kyle shouted, struggling against the invisible grip as the Captain’s eyes narrowed.
“It’s telekinesis!” the Captain muttered, his instincts kicking in as his system suddenly buzzed.
> System: Unleash Frost Veil if you wish to escape. Recommended Action.
The Captain’s system acted before he could hesitate. In a flash, Kyle unleashed his wand’s magic, creating a burst of blue light that shattered the telekinetic hold. He was thrown free, landing hard as dust swirled around them.
Kyle staggered to his feet, steadying himself. But before he could glance at the Captain... A shadow fell over them.
A colossal orc swung its massive bat downward, smashing the platform to pieces. The entire ground erupted as they vanished beneath the shockwave.
When the debris settled, silence ruled the air. The orc’s weapon, once roaring with strength, was now encased in thick ice.
He frowned and reached out, pressing his fingertips to the frozen surface.
Suddenly, it snapped! The bat shattered instantly, splitting in two as icy mist drifted through the ruins.
The moment the bat shattered, the Captain emerged from the icy mist, smiling like a demon, his eyes burning crimson.
In a blur, he shot forward, carving through the orc’s neck with one clean s***h. The giant froze mid-roar, its entire body turning to crystal before collapsing into a frozen heap.
The Captain landed lightly, exhaling a cold mist that trailed from his lips. But before he could regain his stance, a shadow consumed the sky behind him.
He twisted midair, no longer moving like a man, but like something beyond human, just in time to see a massive boulder hurtling toward him.
The rock struck his face dead-on.
“—Tch!”
The impact detonated on contact, slamming him into the ground with an earth-shattering boom. Dust and shattered stone rippled outward, swallowing the forest around him.
Yet, from within the crater, he slid to a stop, unfazed, teeth gritted, fury simmering in his glare. His eyes burned brighter as his breath steamed.
Slowly, he turned his head, scanning the field.
“...Kyle,” he muttered, voice deep and low. “Where the hell did you go?”
Kyle, on the other hand, managed to take down two of the orcs by casting a black hole that devoured their heads in an instant. The spell ripped through the air like a collapsing star, but the recoil drained half of his mana, nearly emptying him.
He landed on top of a massive tree, the bark cracking beneath his boots as he hid among the leaves, watching the chaos below. The ground was cloaked in mist, still rippling with frost from the Captain’s earlier strike, and the remaining orcs roared as they searched for their lost prey.
“We were both slammed away! And what was that telekinesis?!” Kyle thought, his breathing ragged.
Then, a flicker.
To his right, a group of elves appeared for a split second, glitching, translucent, grinning with distorted faces, and then they vanished.
Kyle’s pulse spiked. He turned, scanning his surroundings. “What the—”
Before he could finish, an elf materialized behind him and kicked him square in the face, launching him out of the tree and into the open. He slammed into the ground with a grunt, dirt bursting around him as he reached for his dagger, his mind racing.
Kyle’s grip tightened. “They’re not supposed to exist here…”
As Kyle staggered to his feet, a thunderous explosion erupted behind him. Dust and debris swirled in the air. When he turned, he saw the Captain locked in combat, facing off against giant, glitching spiders and towering orcs that sought to crush him beneath their feet.
The Captain moved like a storm given form, his blade dancing in furious arcs. Frost followed every swing, severing the writhing limbs of spiders and slicing through the massive foot of an orc. He dashed through the chaos, his breath steady, his eyes burning with defiance.
He swung downward, unleashing a cascade of frost that swept through the battlefield, freezing a dozen enemies mid-motion. A split second later, he rolled aside as a colossal orc’s charge ripped through the trees behind him, splintering the forest apart.
The Captain gritted his teeth, readying another stance, but a sudden s***h tore through his waist. He stumbled, pain burning across his side, but refused to fall. With a snarl, he spun and drove his blade through the chest of a stealthy elf who’d struck from the shadows.
“Damn elves!” he roared, kicking the body aside, just as an enormous shadow loomed over him. The ground trembled beneath the orc’s incoming step.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” he spat through clenched teeth.
Then, everything froze.
A pulse of unseen power washed over the field, and the massive orc was hurled backward as if struck by a divine hammer, its body tumbling hundreds of meters away.
A voice, calm yet commanding, echoed through Captain's ears.
“You were the lowest of them all… but you managed such a feat, Hiro. Captain.”
Hiro’s pupils widened. The air shimmered before him, and through the haze, an unfamiliar figure emerged, walking with unhurried grace amid chaos. Each step carried authority. Around him, the remaining enemies were crushed or flung away by invisible force, as if reality itself bent to his will.
Hiro could hardly believe it. His lips parted in shock.
“Mr… Billionaire?!”
The man simply smiled, immaculate in his formal suit, as if he’d just left a boardroom meeting.
“Yo.”
