Memphis’s POV “Do you regret coming?” he asks me on the drive back. “No way,” I assure him. “They weren’t exactly warm and fuzzy, but I barely had to speak to them. And Lizzy was awesome.” I mean it. It was very clear that his parents thought I wasn’t worth their time, but in the scheme of things, I really didn’t have to deal with them all that much. And his sister was as sweet and adorable as she was talented. I actually had a really good time tonight—much better than I feared I’d have when he first invited me. The drive to New York, from singing Led Zeppelin songs together to the steadily flowing conversation, was a lot of fun, and holding his hand when Lizzy came on… I think I caught myself off guard even more than him when I did it. But I’m glad I did. I haven’t given the poor guy
