I’d been feeling terrible all week. I can’t believe how jealous I got of Tim hitting on Clara, and she was right, rather than be angry at her I should have protected her from being hit on at her first ever competition. She’d been nervous enough that day, I could tell she felt out of place at ties even though she did a brilliant job, and now I’d made her cry about something that wasn’t her fault.
I wanted to tell her that my dad had ‘stolen’ a number of girls I’d been going out with because he was richer, more powerful and more experienced I guessed… but I wasn’t going out with Clara so she was right, I had no right to get involved I that side of her life.
I’d wanted my dad to find out about my new yard following the competition so that he could see I could make it on my own
