Episode 8 : 1 Million Dollar Question

I am working as a manager in a multinational company which serves customers. I start at 9 am and it finishes at 6 pm. Since I was away for holiday I will have some backlog which needs to be cleared. I already reach the office at 8.40 am and immediately started to clear my backlogs. About an hour later I received a WA message, normally when I am at work I don't bother about my WA or phone unless my family members especially my dad and my dad only call me. So I was so into my work and it was almost 10 am my stomach give a signal for my coffee. I went to the pantry to make a cup of coffee for myself and back to my place. I took my phone and check my WA messages. Jay sent me a text.

"You didn't say anything about my compliment"

Oh yes! I totally forgot about it so I immediately replied "Sorry and thank you for the compliment."

"Only thank you?"

"Then what you want?"

"Take me out for dinner and a movie?"

"Okay can, tell me when and the time"

"Dinner tonight, I will pick you at your office, send me your office address. What time you finish work?"

"Around 6 pm" and together with my office address.

"See you at 6.30 pm, okay?"

"Fine"

After sent him the text I was thinking we started to see each other since I am back from a holiday in about 3 days.  I realized I didn't call Kelly the past 3 days, we were chatting in WA only. I called her immediately and I was telling her what happened all these 3 days. I talked for almost an hour and she asked me the 1 million dollar question. I was stunned and speechless when Kelly asked me that question.

"I don't think so Kelly, I am just going out with him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, that's all. Only past 3 days."

"Exactly Krish only 3 days, why there is no gap in between? Then WA messages some more. Basically, you both are in contact except for the sleeping hours only. Very simple, text him that you need to work overtime and postponed to night's dinner and keep on postponing until this weekend. You are going back to your hometown right this weekend?"

"Yes, I have purchased the train tickets as usual."

"Have you mention to him about your weekend trip?"

"No, I didn't."

"Good! Don't tell him now. I am repeating to you don't tell him now."

"Okay! Okay! I will not mother Kelly!"

"That's my girl, now text him to cancel tonight's dinner and update me what his reply, okay?"

"Okay!" A few minutes later I texted Jay.

"Hi Jay, I can't make it tonight, I need to clear my backlogs due to a long holiday. I am sorry, we will postpone it to some other day."

"Okay. No problem dear." I gritted my teeth in anger, this guy purposely making me piss off, control Krish control. Breathe in breathe out...relax and continue to do your work.

After an hour, I received a text.

"Had your lunch?"

"In another an hour maybe" I replied to him casually.

"Okay. Enjoy your food."

After 45 minutes my stomach started to make sound, felt hungry so decided to go for lunch. We all need to go out, cross the road and walk for 5 minutes to go to the nearest food court. I walked out of the main gate and wanted to cross the road, suddenly a familiar car pulled at the side I was standing to cross. The windscreen was rolled down and Jay was inside the car. I bent down a bit and saw he was grinning at me, I was so surprised, shock, stunned and speechless. What is this guy doing here? The question reflected on my face I guess. Since I was standing there still Jay called me "Krish come inside, faster I am blocking other cars. Get in before they start to honk at me." I also get in the car immediately without thinking anything. He drove the car into the opposite mall parking and parked the car. I asked him "What are you doing here?" "I came for lunch here and accidentally saw you crossing the road." I nodded my head and I don't know what to say. We walked into the mall and Jay choose to go to a food shop rather than the food court. I just followed him and he ordered all the dishes. I texted Kelly immediately on this situation. She replied to me with 3 emojis, angry face, woman patting her head, and devil face. I smiled after reading her text. 

"Your boyfriend sent you a text?" Jay asked. I immediately shook off my head and said "Friend". 

He nodded and asked, "So from who the text guy friend or girlfriend?"

"My friend Kelly from Y city"

"Oh, the one you went for a holiday right?"

"Yes. I want to ask you something? Vanda told me that you have met me in March and I tried to recall the incident but I couldn't remember at all, can you explain to me."

"You, Vanda's son, another guy friend of  Vanda were having dinner together at the apartment cafeteria while waiting for Vanda. I came together with her and was standing next to you and when I saw you were busy chatting with that guy I left. I sat opposite your table alone and had my dinner since you all were very busy chatting."

"I never met you before so I didn't know how you look like or Vanda didn't tell me that you are coming."

"How come? She told me that she has shared my picture before this with you?"

I looked at him in surprise and told him "No, she didn't and why would she want to share your picture with me? I only saw you the first time when you drop us."

"She told me that you asked me to accompany you to the airport and wanted to meet me before you left for Y city."

"What nonsense is this?" I asked Jay.
