The drive back to the pack was quiet. Dominic didn’t say anything—I could see he was lost in thought throughout the drive. And he didn't let go of my hand even after we stepped into the car. His hold on my hand was so strong, as if something bad would happen to me if he let go. I guessed I was the elemental the letter was talking about, and whatever that was, it must have been something bad, since it affected everyone’s mood.
