I concentrated, putting in my will into not singing the vehicle. I dangled my fingers above the engine directing them to the spot that Chase needed and willed the lightning to trickle slowly down my arm and out of my fingertips.  I marvelled at that silvery thread, as it twined down into the part of the engine I willed it to go, and watched in pure delight as it sparked the engine to laugh.  Chase laughed, and his laughter was contagious. I doubled over in laughter as well. There we were, two maniacs filled with other-worldly power laughing at being able to jump-start a stolen, beat-up vehicle.  I wanted to hold onto that moment. In some ways it felt so normal. We could have been a couple of rebellious teens holding hands in the rain.  And yet, as much as I wanted it to be so, it wasn’
