Chapter Three
Killian POV
I couldn’t keep my eyes off her.
Even after walking away, I had to focus my attention elsewhere, and put distance between us. The slight moment our eyes met again after I left the bar took more control than I cared to admit.
Earlier, I hadn’t planned to approach her .My legs had carried me there before I thought twice about it. Every second beside her had felt like a test of restraint.
I was struggling to keep my wolf from pulling her from the bar and dropping her on the bar table and f**king the life out of her.
I knew at that moment I needed to get away from her, else I would not be able to control myself.
I shouldn’t have dropped my card, I should have just requested her number, I said to myself.
I was halfway down the hallway leading away from the main floor when I felt fingers wrapped around my shoulder.
My body stiffened immediately.
At first, I thought it was Diego, I was prepared to shove him off..
Then I turned and saw her.
Adele.
Her breathing was uneven, cheeks slightly flushed, like she had rushed after me and was only just realising what she had done.
My eyes dropped briefly to her mouth. “Holy fuck..” this was a mistake, she kept biting on her lips, unaware of what it did to me. My jaw tightened, my wolf was no longer calm and neither was I.
She looked at me like she wanted to say something, then stopped halfway. For the first time in years, I felt my control slip.
And that was all it took.
I closed the distance between us, my hand settling against the back of her neck before my mouth slammed on hers.
The kiss wasn’t gentle.
There was nothing gentle left in me where she was concerned.
For a few seconds, she froze. Then her fingers curled into my shirt.
I knew at that moment that there was no going back.
Her lips were warm and uncertain at first, a low sound escaped through her throat and something inside me snapped tighter.
I pulled back before I forgot where we were.
Her eyes looked unfocused when she stared at me. I guess she looked surprised as to why I had stopped.
Mine probably looked worse. I studied her for a second before speaking.
“You want to leave?”
Her brows furrowed slightly.
“With me” I added
She blinked, then nodded.
I stepped aside for her to walk first.
She hesitated briefly, then followed.
Neither of us spoke while leaving the club.
I didn’t bother looking for Diego.
Whatever trouble he found tonight would keep him occupied.
Outside, the air felt colder.
The valet brought theTesla around immediately.
I opened the passenger door without thinking.
Adele stared at me for a second before getting in. The drive back to the hotel started in silence. Usually I preferred silence, but tonight, It felt strange.
I kept both hands on the wheel, eyes on the road. Beside me, Adele shifted slightly.
I glanced sideways.
Her head was resting against the window, her eyes were closed but her lash still fluttered a bit
“You alright?” I asked
There was a brief pause from her.
“Hm”
Her voice sounded softer.
“Your first time going home with a stranger?”
“Yes,” she said more clearly now.
She glanced at me now, “You look like someone that doesn’t smile often”.
I kept my eyes on the road. “Maybe I don’t have much to smile about.”
The answer came out flat.
A few seconds passed. Then she said, “That’s… sad.”
The hotel came into view now, I pulled up at the entrance and parked.
The valet came over quickly. I handed over the keys before walking around to Adele’s side.
She stepped out too fast and lost her balance, I caught her before she could hit the ground. Her body against mine felt hot in a way I couldn’t explain. I steadied her and kept my hands on her arm a second longer than necessary before guiding her inside.
We didn’t speak in the elevator.
But all through our time in the elevator, she kept on biting her lips and that habit was starting to get on my nerves in a way I couldn’t explain.
By the time the elevator chimed and slid open into the pent house, I was done pretending otherwise.
I turned to her before I could think better of it. “Stop doing that,” I said.
She frowned slightly. “Doing what?”
I didn’t answer.
I cursed silently under my breath and slammed my lips against hers right there.
That was all it took for whatever restraint I had left to start slipping.
My hand moved to the back of her neck, steadying her as the kiss deepened. I should have stopped there.
I didn’t.
The scent from earlier hit harder this time, close enough to drown out everything else. My wolf reacted immediately, pushing against every bit of control I still had.
Mine.
I exhaled sharply through my nose and broke the kiss just long enough to look at her.
That should have been enough to step back.
It wasn’t.
I took her hand and led her toward the bedroom without saying anything else.
The moment the door closed, the air between us changed again.
No noise. No distance. Just her standing there like she was still trying to process what was happening and me trying not to lose control of myself completely.
I should have slowed down.
I didn’t.
I pulled her closer, my restraint thinning with every second she stayed near me like this. Too close. Too willing. Too new to all of this.
Her breath hitched slightly when I touched her again, and that was enough to make my focus slip.
I stopped long enough to look at her.
Really look.
She didn’t move away.
That should have been my warning.
I exhaled through my nose and steadied myself, but it wasn’t working anymore. Not the way it should.
My voice came out lower than before.
“You don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for.”
She didn’t answer immediately. She just looked at me.
And said quietly,
“Please don’t stop”
That was the point everything shifted.
I held her gaze for a second longer, then looked away like that would fix anything.
It didn’t.
I closed the space between us again, slower this time, like I was giving myself one last chance to walk away.
I didn’t take it.
Whatever was left of my control snapped clean.
And after that, I stopped thinking entirely.
