NOTE: I used to address Zaire in the previous chapters as Jozine. But please don't be confused guys. Whether I use Jozine or Zaire, it's still the main character. She is Zaire but she's also Jozine. In case someone's wondering why I shifted to using Jozine instead of Zaire, don't worry, their name's shifting doesn't affect the story. Our main character's still our MC haha! WE'LL BE USING 'ZAIRE' NOW INSTEAD OF 'JOZINE' Spirit and Goodbye [4] Breaking Plans What the hell...? Why the heck do these people want to abduct me? Did Jozine offended them before without my knowledge? Zaire thought. This is one of those moments where she wants to c***k her head open because of some missing memories from Jozine's perspective. She wonders what Jozine was doing before to catch the eyes of these crazy bunch. Haaa... Jozine sighs mentally. She signalled for Skele to remain alert and quiet. She prepared a little something for these guys later but it seems she has to push the plan a little bit. The mention of her name caught her interest and since she's the person involve, Zaire would like listen thoroughly to understand their amazing plan, which involves her k********g and what use they have for her. "Say, Austin, are your phantoms still fighting?" That was the woman, Irga. Her voice is really sultry, it reminds Zaire of those actresses who always have the role of a seductress. "Hmm," Ah, so that soft-voiced man's name is Austin. Irga is the only woman, Von has the deepest voice, Oli is the first one to speak and then Austin who has a soft voice. Noted. Zaire confirmed their names on her head. "My summons have stopped spawning but I can taste the blood from one of my spawns, someone must be gravely injured on the hunters' part." Austin softly informed, "or they could be dead." He added. Zaire gritted her teeth. What a son of a b***h. She thinks it's such a pity for a bastard named Austin to possess such a soft voice when he's a shitty bastard. Someone is wounded from their side. Having Elise with is such a good idea, although she's worried about her, Zaire knows it's for Elise's growth. She just hopes that whoever is wounded is not suffering from a life-threatening wound. She now has another reason why she must stop them. Man, she's pissed to the maximum level. And to think she was admiring Austin's voice a while ago, fooling herself thinking that Austin might be forced to be part of this entire thing because honestly, his voice isn't suited for such a villainous role, how wrong she was! He's a psycho with a soft voice!!!! Zaire slapped her cheeks lightly. Stupid! Stupid! Now isn't the time for her to develop some unwanted crush over the enemy, no matter how soft his voice is. She swore to not be swayed anymore, it doesn't matter whether they possess a soft voice or they're hella handsome, Zaire won't be swayed! Although, she now kinda understand why some people likes bad boys, it's kinda hot. Kinda... Just a teeny-tiny bit. "We'll proceed as planned. Once the spirit is weakened because of the death of those hunters in her lake, we'll take her out and lock her in the Spirit Lamp. The rest will be killed and then we'll burn this village and the surrounding place down. Have you got the origin tree of that spirit?" It's Von. He seems to be the leader of this group based on how the other three listens to him. "We're still looking for it. The spirit kept it quite well so we're in a pinch." Irga. "You need to find it. The Master wants that tree and the spirit." Zaire's forehead creases when she noticed something from what Von said. The rest will be killed? Could they be pertaining to the people in the dungeon that they abducted or are there some people left alive and are protected by the spirit, Kalghaya? If so then that would be better! They'll be enough witnesses to support their claims and ask for an immediate action from the higher ranking people. Duke Franklin and Marquess Rolfe may be assisting her but with how elaborate these people's plan is, someone must be playing behind the scenes and in order to gain the others' support regardless whether they're part of the Duke's or the Marquess's faction, she needs all the evidence she can get so no one will question the legitimacy of her claims. If that happens, those people playing behind the scenes will have no choice but to support as well, on the surface, but at the same time, they'll need to act quickly so they won't get caught and their involvement will not be found out. That would be the perfect time to strike them down. Caught. In. The. Act. No more questioning needed. "Well then, Austin and I will search for the tree." Irga announced. She can hear their footsteps growing distant after the creaking of door. Now then, there's only Von and Oli left, unfortunately, from the strength of their magic energy, one of them is in the peak of Superior level, maybe about to breakthrough to Distinguished level and the other is Distinguished level. Now, why the hell are they so powerful but on the not-good side. It would have been better if they're not evil and didn't cause the annihilation of the villagers. Tsk. Zaire thought. Such a pity. Especially Austin. His voice was such... Ack! Almost. She almost fantasized of Austin again. Zaire violently shake her head while slapping her face lightly, unknown to her, Skele (Skeleton) has been watching her with a big question mark on its head wondering whether she's sane or not, at the same time thinking that it's such a pity for a lady like her to be deranged. Of course, Zaire is clueless about this. "When will the Masters execute the plan?" It's Oli's voice. He sounded really curious while Zaire nodded her head in agreement. She wants to know too. "The last time I heard, he's planning to execute thy plan on the night the moon breaks." Von. "Wow. Moon break huh. I guess it's understandable since during Moon Break the magic tends to skyrocket," Oh, Moon Break. Zaire will have to research when that is. That's the first time she's heard of that. "And the monsters and beasts grows ten times stronger during Moon Break. There is also a big possibility of a Legendary Beasts awakening and monsters evolving into demonic ones." Again, that's the first time Zaire heard of such things except for the Legendary Beast part. She's got four of them and they're helping on the construction of the auction house. They're very devoted. Zaire has to make sure no one finds out that she let the legendary beasts to do construction work. "Do you think the Master will succeed in opening the door this time?" It's Oli who asked. "Who knows. I believe in Master's ability more than anyone else in the Seat. I'm sure this time he will succeed since he'll be using both the father and the daughter..." Zaire flinched. Why does that made her heart beat fast? If they're pertaining to her, if, just if, it is her who they're talking about as the daughter then... Could Jozine's father really alive? He was missing based Jozine at the same time she isn't sure just how long he's been missing since according to Jozine, her memories are fuzzy if it involves her father. Yeah right, super sus. Now, Zaire is certain that it has something to do with these people. Damn. Isn't this amazing? It's gotten more complicated than she initially thought but she couldn't just let it go since it involves her, Jozine and her father, their father, because she too, is Jozine. Haha... I haven't met him but I'm already feeling this attached. Zaire thought. Maybe, just maybe, within that hazy and incomplete memories, Jozine and her father are closer than Jozine actually thinks. Okay, back to strategic eavesdropping. "Once the door is open, what do you think will happen next?" That's Oli asking another question again. It made Zaire think if Oli is actually part of this group because he seems too clueless. She bets Oli is the type of guy who doesn't give a frick during meetings, like, it's pretty obvious. Why would he keep asking questions if he listened to them, right? "I supposed this entire world will cease to exist since he will surely wake up once the door is opened. Isn't this world's purpose to take the hit for them?" Von's voice sounded sadistic. She can hear the joy on his voice and it almost gave her goosebumps. Who would enjoy when their world ends? No one, of course except these psychos. She heard Oli's booming laughter. The f**k. Crazy bastards. She concluded. She turned to Skele and signalled that the plan will now resume. She's had enough. She listened to their plan enough for her to understand to key points, there are some confusing parts but she has no time to listen anymore. A small scroll appeared before her, she smirked before tearing the golden scroll into two. She then look turned to Skele and showed her three fingers, "3...2..." She whispered, "1." The ground shook. Zaire hold out to both sides of the undergrowth passage while casting earth magic to support the underground passage in case it collaps. "WHAT IS HAPPENING!?" Sounds of door opening and then violently closing followed while the ground continued to shake. "THERE ARE MAGICAL BEASTS ATTACKING!!! There's also a horde of hobgoblins and goblins in the mass!!!" Oho. She smirked upon hearing the panicked voice of Oli. He seems to be the one who checked out what's happening. Poor him. Must be shocked to the core. "WHAT?! I'LL TAKE CARE OF IT! GUARD THE CRYSTALS. SOMEONE MUST BE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE." True. And it's her. Zaire listened as the door shut close. When she inspected the room, only the Superior level magic energy is left. So Oli is the Superior level one and Von is the Distinguished level. How lucky. Good thing Von decided to handle those aggravated ones outside. Zaire summoed the tabulate and asked for something that can weaken and make a superior level mage asleep in few seconds. There are few results once again but she choose the strongest one. [Sheet of Lulu's Lullaby: A record taken from a famous songstress of ancient time, Lulu. Once listened to, it can render the target listener to experience extreme sleepiness they would be able to resist. Point the target and tear the sheet for the record to activate.] Sweet. Just as instructed, using the small space on the door, she pointed the sheet of paper with some notes and ancient markings written on it to Oli, it slightly glowed which indicates that it has determined the target, without saying anything, she tore the paper and from the tore paper, the marking and notes flew to Oli's direction along with some sweet hums and a voice of a woman singing. Zaire eyed Oli's direction carefully, through the small space, she watch as Oli yawned and laid on the couch without a care in the world, the music continued playing. It wasn't a music actually, it's just a woman's voice crying. She cringed. This world's standard is really weird. So that's how a songstress sings. How unique. Once she's confirmef that Oli is asleep, still cloaked in concealment magic, they hurried opened the door of the underground passage and started searching for the crystals, actually, they didn't need to. The crystals are placed in the table carelessly. They must be confident of their strength since they didn't bother keeping the crystals hidden or protect with some sort of alarm. Oh well, it works for them better. Instead of taking only one crystal, Zaire took all four of them and immediately left the room making sure that path to the underground passage is kept as it is so those people wouldn't notice. She kept the crystals in Luxes in case something happens and then proceeded to the dungeon. She needs to rescue the people being kept there, she'll use them as evidence. It's for her self-interest, if not, she'd rather leave them be because they might jeopardize her mission. Still, she needs them so she needs to free them. That's all. Free them. The rest is up to whether they survive or not once they're freed. Skele and Zaire run towards the dungeon's direction and immediately opened the underground passage's door. It lead them to the right side of the dungeon, it was well hidden so there are no people around. From the distance she can see the village on fire and then sounds of monsters growls and screech. Good thing the dungeon is far from the village center. She and Skele ventured inside the dungeon, the inside is smelly. It's the mixture of blood, urine and other smell but the smells of blood is strong, some are still fresh. Zaire gritted her teeth and looked away from the cells where human body parts and scattered. When they reached the middle of the dungeon, she can hear sounds of people crying and the sound of... bone breaking? There's also a munching sound. The goddamn pet. She thought. So the pet is having its meal huh. Fucker. Without wasting time, Zaire run to the cell where the voice is, as she run closer the voice also grew stronger and stronger. When Zaire came face to face with the pet, she stilled. "... That's an ugly pet." She whispered to herself as her and the so-called pet's eyes met. There are three people in the corner of the cell, all three are crying and shivering. The one being devoured seems to be a man. Must be the father. Zaire heaved a deep sigh. Seriously, just how heartless are those people? They value this hideous monster more than the lives of humans. And they also involved clueless passer-by! "What the fuck..." She breathed and ruffled her hair, once done, she glared at the pet. A glare with one intent. "I'll f*****g kill you." Killing intent. To be continued....
