I squeeze my eyes tightly shut and nod my head. “I can take you up to her room now,” Suzy says. My eyes open and see the sadness in Dr. Griffin’s eyes. “She was a nurse here, once upon a time. One of the best we’ve ever had,” he tells me. “She is going to be deeply missed.” I can’t say anything because if I open my mouth, the only sound that will emerge will be my desperate wails.
