CHAPTER 3:The Unexpected Interview

1680 Words
Here I am back in my house, sitting on my bed and pondering over last night. Well, not exactly pondering but rather attempting to recall. However, nothing comes to mind after a certain point. What happened after that? And did he change my clothes? Oh, why on earth did you drink so much? I bury my face in my pillow. "Lily, come quickly, baby. Breakfast is ready.” I hear Lucy's voice. I get off my bed and head to the kitchen. I take a seat at the table. She serves breakfast for both of us and then sits in front of me, eyeing me suspiciously. I look down as I eat my food. "Will you tell me?” She finally says. I look at her. Nervously laughing, I ask,"What are you talking about?” "You know very well what I'm referring to.” "Umm... no, I don't.” I say, trying to act innocent. "Don't you dare act innocent, Lily.” "I'm not trying to act anything.” "Don't tell me your first was with that Mark. LILY, I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU.” She shouts the last part. I clutch my chest, eyes wide."Lucy, s-stop. Are you trying to give me a heart attack or what?” She then grabs my arm and glares at me."Was it Mark?” she asks in an extremely angry tone. Gulping hard, I shake my head in denial. She then releases my arm and goes back to eating her breakfast."Then who was it?” "Umm.” "Tell me, was he handsome? Young? Tall?” "Will you stop?” "Okay. Okay. But you had a job interview, right?” "Yes. It starts at 9, so I have time.” "What kind of job is it now?” "It's for a babysitter. I got a notification on my phone last night. So I thought, why not give it a try.” "Are you sure about it?” "Yes, Lucy. Don't worry. We'll surely find a new place to live.” She nods sadly. I kiss her cheek. "So what did you do this morning? Did you guys do it again?” And here I thought she was sad. "What's wrong with you?” "Come on, now don't be shy. Tell me. Again? Oh, sweet Jesus! For how many rounds did it go? Did he use protection? He better have, or else I'll kill him. I don't want my Lily to get pregnant so soon.” I stare at her in disbelief. "Who is this Lucy speaking? And just stop. I don't remember anything. I was drunk and...” "You are of no use.” "Speaking of this morning, I was freaking out. I thought that I was the one who seduced him, and now he must be thinking that I am that kind of girl. So I just put on my clothes and ran away without anyone knowing.” "You ran away?” "Yes. I was scared. But I left a sorry and a thank you note for him.” "Lily, why are you so dumb.” "You have to understand, Lucy. This was my first time in such a situation.” She just shakes her head. "Anyways, I'm done eating. I'll leave.” I say and stand up. I hug her once. She kisses my cheeks and says,"Take care.” I nod. "Bye.” I hope everything goes well. Lately, my life has been a mess. I need this job for Lucy, or we'll surely end up homeless. Finally, I reach the Parker Enterprises. I look at the company. It's massive. Well, this is where my interview is. So I go inside. I see many people waiting for the interview. I sit on one of the chairs and wait for my turn. Every girl there is busy with their makeup, hair, and dresses. I think I'm the only one dressed like this. I'm sure someone among them will get the job before it's my turn. But one by one, everyone comes out with a sad face. Then finally, it's my turn. The lady calls me,"Miss Adams, please come inside.” I nod and rise from my seat. I follow her inside. My eyes first roam around the office. Woah! Everything here is so cool. Then my eyes fall on the person sitting on the chair. Why does this guy look familiar? Oh no! You are so doomed. Why? My eyes widen. Wait. He is... Yes, he is. Oh no! Damn it! For sure, I won't get this job now. I bite my lip in nervousness. I think he notices, and a smirk plays on his lips. I stand there like a statue. He then looks at the lady beside me and says,"Olivia, please do me a favor and postpone all the other interviews. I think I'll need more time for this one.” My already wide eyes widen even more. But why? Why does he want more time with me? I don't know. That smirk looks so evil. But you have to admit he looks hot. Shut up, you perv. "Yes, sir.” The lady named Olivia says and goes out after saying"Best of luck” to me. "Thank you.” Well, I need that a lot right now. Then he looks at me again, smirking."Please take a seat, Miss...” Then he looks down at the file in his hand and continues,"Adams.” I go near him and sit on the chair in front of him. He starts again."So, how are you feeling, Miss Adams?” "Umm... I-!” I can't find the words. "You look nervous, Miss Adams, and I don't appreciate that.” I bite my lip again and look down. I wonder why your lip hasn't started bleeding yet. He then gets up from his seat and makes his way towards me. He leans against the table in front of me. He is standing extremely close to my seat. My breath hitches due to the proximity. Before he says anything, I think I should give an explanation to him. Yes. I should do that. Yes, but don't talk too much. "I am really sorry. Last night I was drunk and lost my mind. I don't usually drink, but last night I was so hurt that I went to the club. I know it was very stupid of me to do that. Then I even called you a kidnapper. I am sorry. You know, I felt so guilty this morning and started freaking out. Then I thought running away was the only safe option. I am sorry and also thank you for saving me last night. Otherwise, that bartender would have sent me to that room, and I don't know what would have happened. And about that room thing, I am not what you think.” I stop when he bends down to my eye level and brings his face closer to me. My eyes widen. What is he doing? "What am I thinking, Miss Adams?” he says in an extremely dark tone. I gulp hard. "T-That I-I am” I can't do this. "You are.” "I am.” "I am listening, Miss Adams.” 'C-can y-you please stop.” "Stop what, Miss Adams.” 'S-top c-coming close t-to me.” "But last night you seemed to want this when you pulled me.” My eyes widen. I stand up from my seat and move away from him."I told you that was because I was drunk.” He smirks looking at me. "Give me one valid reason why I should give you this job. Maybe you'll get drunk again, and God knows what you'll do. I can't risk my child's life by giving the job to someone like you.” His child? He is the father? I don't know why, but hearing him say that makes my heart ache. "I promise I would never do that again. I will take good care of your child, and I am not usually like this. I know I gave a bad impression on our first meeting, but I promise it will never happen again. Please, I really want this job. You can't judge me by just one meeting. Please, Mr...” "Parker. Liam Parker.” He replies. "Yes. Mr. Parker. I promise it won't happen again. I'll take good care of your child.” "Fine. It's not because of all your pleading but because I see something in you. That you can handle him. So you are hired.” "Really! Thank you so much, Mr. Parker. Thank you.” He then gets up from the table where he was leaning, adjusts his coat, and stands in front of me with his hands in his trouser pockets. "There are some rules you need to follow, Miss Adams.” "What rules?” "Rule number one: you will not lay a hand on him. If even once I find out about it, you'll face the worst consequences. Number two: you'll not disturb my privacy. Number three: there are some prohibited areas in the house where no one is allowed to go. Don't dare to go there. Number four: you'll not take him out of the house without my permission. Number five: I won't tolerate any other men in my house, for example, your friend or boyfriend.” "Okayy... But what are the working hours? "It's from 9 to 7. All days except Sunday.” I nod. "And for your salary. It'll be $5,000.” My eyes widen. Is he serious? 'Umm.. I think I heard something wrong. Can you please repeat it?' "No, Miss Adams, you heard it correctly. It's $5,000.” Don't you think that's too much? "No. I don't.” He then goes back to his seat and sits on the chair."When do I start working then?” I ask. "Tomorrow. Sharp at 9 am. Be on time or be ready to say goodbye to the job.” I nod. "I hope you still remember the address.” He says with a smirk. I nod. Ha! Finally, I have a job now.
