Encountering A Trapped Family

Xie Feng had some guesses when he saw objects blocking the door from inside.
One could see someone must have move those objects to keep the zombies breaking into the house.
There were different tea packets and kettles inside the kitchen area.
“Was this a tea shop?” Guo Tong said while opening drawers to find some useful items.
“I think so.” Xie Feng nodded at his guess.
With many small tables and cushions, they could assume this must be some kind of tea shop.
“The pot was burning for some time now,” Xie Feng said, “It’s possible to have a living person present here.”
They checked the rooms one by one and finally came to the upper floor.
Xie Feng kicked open the last door.
“Don’t hurt us!”
“Don’t come near, I will kill you.”
Loud trembling shouts shocked them the moment they enter through it.
“s**t, Don’t shout we are living ones.” Guo Tong said hurriedly when he saw there people hiding behind the bed carrying bats and rods.
“Living Ones?”
The family was shocked more than them when they saw two-man standing there with large backpacks on their shoulder.
There had never been expected that there will living persons came by breaking into their house.
After living these days in constant fear they had lost their hope in someone who came to help them.
After some talk, both sides introduced themselves.
The couple could be called Mr. and Mrs. Chen. They run this tea shop with their son Chen Xiao. When they hear the window glass shattering sound they were so shocked and didn’t even come to see who was the one who came.
They were also a little embarrassed due to the situation. After all, they had broken into their house without checking if any living person was present.
Well, it can’t be blamed on them as it’s also their first time seeing alive people in houses here.
“How long were you living here.” Xie Feng asked about their situation. They didn’t try to go outside for help and stayed there.
Mr. Chen starts talking about their experience. That afternoon the family of three had served their morning customers and closed the shop for later.
Then suddenly the weather started changing and red rain pours from the clouds. They closed all the doors and windows due to rain.
Then they saw which will forever be printed in their minds.
Xie Feng seems to see all kinds of negative emotions on his surface.
“From that time our family was trapped,” Mr. Chen’s voice becomes heavier talking about this, “We tried to call to police but there was no signal to date. No help has come for now.”
“There was no one to help,” Guo Tong told them about how they were leaving till now. “Thanks to Xie Feng, we were still alive and able to fight with them.”
“Are you powerful?” Chen Xiao speaks with uncertainty, there is little hint of mocking in his tone.
Xie Feng looked at the Chen Xiao. He was a tall skinny person, a long coat was covering his thin frame. His face was a little dark with some pimples on it.
This was the type of person who didn’t get outside sun for a long period of time.
“If somehow you were infected and transform into a zombie, I am powerful enough to save your parents by breaking your neck in one strike.”
Chen Xiao becomes dumbfounded hearing him.
He snorted under his breath and turned his face. This time look of disbelief could be seen on his face.
Guo Tong feels amused by his reaction. The man sitting by his side was powerful enough to face hundreds of zombies alone. Even though he himself had not seen him in that situation. But from staying with him the past couple of days he knows how Xie Feng was much stronger than anyone he sees. Every time he kills zombies, it was like watching a butcher killing chickens.
Seeing their little Mr. Chen smiled apologetically.
“Don’t mind his rudeness. Chen Xiao is not good at interaction.”
“It’s fine, he is still young and past ethics have little value in these times.”
“I am not young. I am already 23.” Chen Xiao rebutted the statement and went back upstairs
“Yeah yeah, You were already an adult.” Mr. Chen said looking at Chen Xiao’s back and a look of disappointment surfaces on his tired wrinkled face.
Xie Feng could see the relationship between father and son was not very harmonious.
At that moment there were fighting sounds that came from outside.
Xie Feng gets up fast and goes outside to look at what had happened. Seeing him leaving suddenly, Guo Tong and Mr. Chen followed him.
He saw Hao Jiang and Fang Xin surrounded by five zombies.
Xie Feng took out a dagger and throw it at the zombie closer to Fang Xin.
Seeing the sudden dagger both Hao Jiang and Fang Xin recognized it and looked to their behind seeing Xie Feng and Guo Tong coming.
In no time all zombies were killed under their hands.
Seeing the scene Chen couple was dumbfounded. The beings they fear that much was cut into pieces by a group of people.
After everything settled they all entered the house and locked the door again.
Guo Tong introduced the family to newcomers. After some time Fang Xin talked.
“Can we stay here? We don’t want to take you, we had collected our own supplies.”
The moment Fang Xin finished speaking she regrets it. She had no right to speak for others. She thought it’s better to live with more people so she said without thinking of others opinions.
“We will be more than you if you were all staying here.” Mr. Chen said hurriedly.
They were a group of strong people who can dare to roam around the streets and can kill zombies. It can help them indirectly to protect them from danger.
Xie Feng could easily guess Mr. Chen’s motive but he didn’t mind this. HE also thinks it’s better to live with a group and look after each other.
“Well, If you don’t have any problem then we will stay for the time being.” Fang Xin said after seeing no one in her group denied her.
Guo Tong and Hao Jiang naturally decided in their minds to follow Xie Feng.
After that, they start sorting out the supplies they had collected.
Xie Feng noticed another small bag full of dark green glass bottles on his shoulder.
“What are these bottles.”
“There were the molotoves glass bottles,” Hao Jiang said explaining, “It can be used for burning the small area with the kerosene present in it.”
“Hmm,” Xie Feng understands its use, “That’s good, we can use this to burn the zombies.”
All things were separated from the supplies based on their quality and usage.
“I will go and check the surroundings.” Xie Feng said noticing the sun was going to set.
“Fang Xin, you stay here,” Xie Feng said, “There was no need to go for all of us together.”
After leaving the house.
They petrol the surrounding area for a while in the protection of shadows. They killed the small numbers of roaming zombies in the whole street and tried to make noise as little as possible.
The area with more zombies had been left as the sun was going to set anytime.
They come to the end of the street.
A very disgusting smell hit their nostrils the moment they reached there. Taking out pieces of cloths they cover their faces.
They climbed the wall from where the smell was coming and see what was on the other side.
There was a backyard filled with dead bodies everywhere. There were both humans and animals carcasses rotting there.
There was a whole pack of crows feasting on the dead.
Xie Feng was a little startled.
If he tried to recall correctly he had never seen any birds since the day of catastrophe.
Now seeing so many crows so suddenly makes him a little surprised.
What more startled him was how there is silence in the whole backyard and not a single sound of crow there can be heard from outside.
He noticed Guo Tong and Hao Jiang’s faces were unnatural seeing the scene. Its understandable as the view at the front was not something any human wants to see in their life.
One could imagine the scene that would have happened to all these people.
During the breakout, many run for their life and due to physiology a lone person prefers more of its kind to feel safe. So they become a group while escaping and reached this point. But found their escape futile as there were zombies in all directions.
Some people might have been bitten or scratched by those zombies while running and become infected after some time.
Most people who were not ready to find their friends, relatives, loved ones became zombies and due to failure to react. They were all dead now.
“Let’s go.” Xie Feng said in a low voice to not distract the crows.
Others follow him with their head low feeling depressed and scared.
“Caww”
Some Crows looked at their back leaving the area. If one could look closer they could see their black eyes have a red hue present in them. Which was expanding while eating the dead flesh.
Leaving the area, the group returned to the tea shop.
Mrs. Chen and Fang Xin make dinner ready for them when they come.
A pot of semi-brown rice, some mashed potatoes with canned fish meat.
A very simple meal but they found this meal was far better than anything. As Long as they were getting something to fill their stomach, any food is fine.
Everyone freshen up and came to the dinner table.
But, before they have their first bite.
A sudden gunshot resounds the whole street.
It was like someone put his hand inside the bee comb, bearing the wrath of thousands of bees.
‘Someone shot the bull’
The same thought appeared in everyone’s mind present.
“What the hell!?”
Countless roars and shrieks filled the area.
They left the dinner intact on the table and went on the balcony to see what had happened. There was a horde of thousands of zombies moving in their direction.
“s**t! There were more coming.” Hao Jiang cursed seeing such a horde of zombies coming from the intersect.
“Don’t panic, just stay inside the house.”
“Hao Jiang throws Molotov on the one group, I will take care of the other and come to help you.” Xie Feng those words before picking up his short sword and running in the open.
Seeing a human coming at them fearlessly.
Zombies roared madly and increase their speed to come straight at Xie Feng.
Seeing their madness.
“Come here.” Xie Feng’s lips lift into a smirk, giving blatant provocation to zombies.
